Motorola's Timeport P7389 is not an ugly phone, but at the same time not the prettiest flower in the garden. In fact if it were describing itself in a lonely hearts column hoping for a hot date with a flirtatious Nokia, it would perhaps be pushing it's luck to quote "Average looks". To be fair though, the Timeport is bursting with features that belie it's simpleton styling. It has been on the market for about 18 months now and as other manufacturers have launched new models the P7389 has got cheaper and cheaper - you can now get them free on certain contracts. The Timeport is a tri-band phone which means it can work with ... Read the complete review

I have owned many different brands of mobile phones, admittedly, they have been mostly Nokia, however, travelling to the USA as I do reasonably frequently, and getting sick of either not having a phone that works in the States or renting one at high rates, I decided to look for a decent Triband phone...... I contacted the two networks that I had mobile accounts with (Vodafone and Btcellnet) to see what deals they had and for how much the upgrades would be, but neither sounded too impressive either on the choice of the phone or cost..... I began to hear and read about this natty little number, a new mobile phone not from Nokia, but Motorola, the P7389 ... Read the complete review

It’s a neat little phone with massive functionality. I particularly liked the triband capability, the voice activated dialing, the intelligent data entry and the spiffy green screen – which incidentally could have done with some more animations. What really lets it down is the wap capability which seems to have been added as an afterthought. Compared with the ubiquitous Mitsubishi Trium, let alone the Nokia, the machine is in the dark ages. Jerky, slow push button scrolling made worse by a tiny number of characters on the screen. Very limited browser menu screen. No facility to zoom text. No capacity to enter your own url’s. Clicky, slow to respond ... Read the complete review

I managed to get one of these phones from the FT.com offer, even though I got this phone for free I would of paid the full price for it. This phone comes with all the standard features that you'd expect from a phone, with a few extras. Motorola have now added wap features and programable tunes to the timeport range. When I got this phone I followed the advice in Computeractive on how to use your own ISP with the wap facility. This was a big mistake, the phone did not come with any details how to setup the wap facility, but after a search on the internet I managed to find alternative wap access via http://www.wapfreaks.com. When I entered the ... Read the complete review

There are so many of these handsets of the market and also the slightly older version the L7089 and it's a shame because they are a source of endless problems. The phone is manufactured by Motorola who in all fairness are not exactly renowned for their quality craftsmanship in the mobile phone world even though they are a major player. The phone is rather plain looking and has no distinguishing or stand up aesthetic qualities, although it is relatively slim line. The button layout is poor and this combined with the phones dreadful menu system it really does not score well in this department. The problem with the phones menu system is the way the ...
