Advantages: Truly Global, Compact and Light, Power packed features

Disadvantages: Pricey for some folk, not easy to learn

I have owned many different brands of mobile phones, admittedly, they have been mostly Nokia, however, travelling to the USA as I do reasonably frequently, and getting sick of either not having a phone that works in the States or renting one at high rates, I decided to look for a decent Triband phone......

I contacted the two networks that I had mobile accounts with (Vodafone and Btcellnet) to see what deals they had and for how much the upgrades would be, but neither sounded too impressive either on the choice of the phone or cost.....

I began to hear and read about this natty little number, a new mobile phone not from Nokia, but Motorola, the P7389 and decided to see where I could get my hands on one..to my surprise I saw one up for auction on Ebay Auctions site...

I eventually put in a bid for one on Ebay auctions and to my surprise actually won the auction, the phone arrived in due course with Battery, charger, UK plug attachment, belt clip and instruction book...

WOW !! I had no idea of its capabilities, not being given any in depth details on Ebay, when I saw the Infra Red transmission I was delighted, being able to link to your PC is an excellent idea, I bought an Infrared reader/sender for my PC connected via a serial comms port, I can now update and download the Mobile phones phone book to and from my PC, which means I can use my computer keyboard to type in data to the mobile phone..much smarter and easier than fiddling about with those small buttons on the phone...

The Tribnad is also a WAP phone, so having got all my connection details to hand from BTCellnet,I quite easily programmed the WAP details into the phone and loggged onto Genie Internet with ease and very quickly.

The phone also has Fax, Data transmission and receiving capabilities and whilst a very good facility, I haven't used it to date ( not had a need to !!), I believe the Fax transmission is around 9600 bps...

Whilst on
a recent trip to Munich I flew back via Amsterdam and in the Dutyfree shop I saw a Motorola USA/European Charger pack for my phone...what a bonus iot was much cheaper than in the shops in the UK so I grabbed one.....This phone is now complete with all accessories, its a feature full, powerful Triband phone, I still don't fully understand all of its capabilities just yet but am continuing to learn...

If you can get one the Motorola P7389 is an excellent Triband Mobile Phone and should be seriously considered if you are looking for a phone with USA/Canada capabilities plus of course other Countries who are on the 1900 Mhz band rather than the more common 900/1800 Mhz dual Frequency Bands as in the UK and Europe...

I have just returned from the USA, and all I had to do was change bands using the set up menu from the dual band frequency setting of 900/1800 Mhz to the USA & Canadian setting of 900 Mhz, it took me 30 seconds to do this whilst the Aircraft engines were powering down, it took the phone 20 seconds to find a compatable network to log onto...very impressive very sleek and with a standard battery that will sit on standby for 5 days, very durable.

I can heartliy recommend this phone to anyone who needs a truly global mobile phone, this little feller will connect to a network just about anywhere in the world...for a purchase price of around £120 - £150 .....its a Cracker !!

Ah, there is a category for the P7389! Shouldn't be too much of a problem for it to be moved then. I'll come back and re-rate this when it's been moved (then I can give it a true rating on where it belongs).
