The Motorola Timeport T280 is really a phone aimed at business users rather than the "yoof" market. It has many features that seem designed for this audience, and I (despite being a "business user") use hardly any of them, ingrate that I am. As my regular readers know, I am lucky to have the opportunity to trial many new phones before they hit the street. Although I normally wait to post my reviews until the actual equipment if firmly on the US market, the uniqueness of Motorola's Timeport 280/270c US prompted me to discuss this phone during its early deployment to the market. The Motorola Timeport 280 is a great little GPRS phone with some nice features. GPRS, big, legible display screen, easy text/wap navigation, etc. But one big weakness that makes me decided I'll return it shortly to take advantage of Vodafone's 14 day cooling off period. The weakness is that it comes without software to help it communicate with my computer -- and said software is limited to TrueSync, which has to be bought separately. Until I do that, I can't use it with the computer. Since that was the biggest feature I bought it for, I do feel a little cheated and miffed.
