Advantages: FM radio!, WAP
Disadvantages: Not brill tones!
Motorola may not be the worlds number one when it comes to mobiles - namely Nokia take that role! However they really do know how to make a good phone. As a quick run down: You can have your own private party on a bus with this little mobile! It's got a built-in FM radio and headset so that you can plug up, turn on and tune in! Not only that, the pack comes with two rubbery style stretch-on 'rubber boot' covers that shelter it from bumps and bangs a mobile experiences! These rubbery styles ones are very different compared to Nokia's fascia's and the likes. ~ General notes ~ Weight: 150g Battery standby/talktime: 135hrs/210mins Extras: FM radio, WAP, stretchy rubber boot cover thingies, vibrate alert (Battery power goes down a lot when using WAP services though). Now for more detailed info: ~ WAP Internet Access ~ The WAP part of the phone is great. It is simple to use and easy to configure. One extremely nifty thing you can do is configure it to auto-disconnect after so many seconds of inactivity. One good thing about its WAP capabilities is the fact that, from the Orange homepage you can access some games....so you dont need a phone with games included! ~ Phone Book ~ ~Personal Numbers~ This is where you can add names and numbers and view them. There are 90 spaces for names (which is ample for me!) To find numbers you can search for the first three letters of their name or enter the location in the SIM cards memory. You can also prevent access to your Phone Book. Generally the Phone book is pretty easy, and pretty common sense, to use. ~ Call Related Features ~ From here you can view how much charge is left in your battery. Restrict your phone number (basically like using the 141 service) and setup call barring. ~ Messages ~ ~SMS~ With SMS messaging you can check your
received messages or check and send any of your outgoing messages. As with most, if not all! mobiles the phone beep's to let you know when a message is received (unless of course you have turned that function off!) ~Voicemail~ From here you call you Voicemail service (for 10p per minute). ~Message editor~ This is where you type in your message and then either save it or send it. It links to the Phone Book so you can message a contact without having to remember their mobile number. ~ Phone Setup ~ Here you generally set the volume, phone lock, PIN codes, language, extended menus, keypad tones, security codes and which ringtone you want. The ringtones are not really anything to write home about - and you *cant* send tones via the web to this mobile. ~ Network Selection ~ With this you search for any other networks available on your mobile. Ive never messed around with this function - so im not really sure what the point in it is! ~ Radio ~ This is the main attraction of the V.2288 over other phones - even Nokia's! It is actually a decent radio built into the phone - surprisingly! You simply have to press a button on the side and then you can listen to any radio station. The phone comes with an earpiece - which is particularly useful if like me - you've lost the one's you bought with your walkman!! ~ Further advantages with the mobile ~ ~ Fascias ~ You can get snap on covers and the pretty odd rubber wraps. The phone comes with two rubber wraps (blue and pink). They offer the phone protection aswell as the style! Generally this phone suits anyone who wants a mobile to "show off" and for more serious uses!!

- 03/06/01 good op, what is the reception on the radio like, is it stereo, as for games, does it not cost a fortune having to play them whilst online? |
