V2288 - not just sweet tunes (Motorola V2288)

Motorola flirts with the masses by adding a radio feature to their V2288 WAP phone. Although the radio may be convenient, it does not help your Wapping experience.

Bulky
The phone weighs 138 gram, about the same as Nokia 7110, but it is even more bulky and uncomfortable to carry.

The phone includes neither a modem, nor an IR-port. So forget about synching your mobile-data or surfing with a big-screen in the bush.

Clumsy Navigation
The V2288 is not much different than the T2288. It is not very intuitive to get onto the net, and almost just as hard to log off.

Another disadvantage was the lack of bookmarks. You have to type in the address of your favourite site every time you log on, while your phone-bill keeps running away.

Radio
The V2288 includes a double earpiece, letting you enjoy to the built in FM- radio –preferably not when speaking. The radio offered decent sound, but the antenna had problems picking up signals when indoors.

Also keep in mind that you have to recharge the batteries more frequently when listening to the radio. The batteries has a stand bye time of 135 hours, and 3.5 hours of talk time.

No wide-screen
The screen size is small, despite the relatively heavy weight. Only three lines, with 10 characters each is not a whole lot, compared to a PC. Especially when using some of the more advanced WAP-services available today.

If you are curious about WAP, enjoy listening to radio but cannot afford more than 200 Euros - this may be your best bet so far.
