Advantages: Beautifully crafted design, Reliable, Professional looking handset

Disadvantages: A bit fiddly to use, Poor SMS message writer, Needs TLC, a bit fragile

I have for years been a nokia addict. I have had a 3110, 5110, 3210, 3330, 8210 & 8850. When my last one gave up the ghost, I fancied something with a bit more innovative design. The 8850 is still my favourite nokia - it is a very professional looking phone, and all the rest look like cheap teenager devices. So I shopped around, and looked at Samsung & motorola among others.

I settled for the v70, because, for once, someone has put a lot of thought and design into the look and feel of the phone, without it looking like something a 14 year old wants! The titanium casing is 1st class, and the revolving bezel quite simply sex itself to use!

The display is gorgeous - white lettering on a black background, and the buttons light up with blue LEDs.

I've had the phone for nearly a year now, and unlike most of the Nokia's I've had, it does not switch itself off without warning, or crash intermittently. It is a joy to use whether in the car, walking around town, or at home. It gets good signal in most locations, and has a great array of features.

My only gripes are that the games are a bit limited, compared with the nokia ones, and nokia's text writer is far better than the motorola one, although you do get used to it. Also, sometimes when you're talking, if you're not careful, the bezel can rotate slightly, and you lose the connection to the speaker! Also, the buttons are tiny, which means that it's difficult to text or dial while driving!

However, you don't have to remember to lock the keypad, as the bezel simply rotates to cover them. I also have genuine motorola hands-free loudspeaker kit, which is excellent.

As for price, you may get a good deal when taking out a package, but to buy the phone outright is not cheap. I'd well recommend you look on ebay, as there are plenty of brand new one's going on there for much less than retail. I saved about £100 on mine. You might also consi
der getting a network locked handset, as they're easily unlocked for around £10-£20 at your local market!

If you're looking for a rugged robust phone, this isn't for you. If you're looking for the latest wacky designs, with a huge array of interchangeable fascias of your favourite pop groups, this also isn't for you. If you want a piece of design, with an air of quality and a handset that will not look out of place in a business meeting, then this IS the phone for you, but remember, shop around & get a bargain!

A good op. I am a Nokia person myself, but just want the basics. Dialling and texting while driving? Shudder. :-)

Hiya and a belated welcome to dooyoo ;)

I still think this one looks like a periscope in the picture - is that just me?

Could do with a bit more info on features etc. for a VU but a nice op nonetheless ;)
