Cheap but very limited (Motorola W377)

Advantages: Reliable for calls, good sound quality Disadvantages: Texting is a nightmare!
The Motorola W377 is basically one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest phone you can get from Carphone Warehouse if you have lost your phone and are not yet eligible for an upgrade, or do not have insurance. These were the circumstances under which I got it, and all I can say is that you definitely get what you pay for. All I really want from a phone is calls and text, and on the first of these I suppose you can't really fault it. However on the second it is an absolute nightmare, really like stepping back a number of years to the very first Nokias, only worse. Maybe if I could cope with predictive text it would be easier, but as I can't, it is a simply infuriating piece of machinery. The numbers and symbols are arranged seemingly at random (for example, 0 is on the 1 rather than the 0 key!), and when you are scrolling through, it is very difficult to get the right letter/number/symbol. Then once you have struggled through the process and managed to get something together, woe betide should you happen by accident to touch the red button! Rather than saving automatically to Drafts or leaving it on the screen as even the early Nokias used to do, it wipes your message altogether, leaving you having to start all over again. Like I said, absolutely infuriating. Summary: Only worth it if you use your mobile solely to make and receive calls
