Advantages: User Friendly, Some Features

Disadvantages: Reception, Faulty Software

I have owned one of these little phones for a year and a half. This was my 2nd phone on One 2 One and was actually an improvement on my Motorola C520, which I used for 1 week.
I’m not going to be too sceptical, because I don’t think people realise that a bad Network and phone combination can make things worse.
When I first saw the DB2000, it was very original and pretty in design and very compact even compared to the latest phones now.
Good Points
The menu system is superb and more user friendly than Nokia 3210(which I hate), Motorola C520, Ericsson T20 and Samsung SGH600 which are all phones that I have used. The message menu and settings work brilliantly and the screen size is perfect for the mobile user.
The battery life lasts for about 3-4 days when on standby, which is more than adequate. This phone has all the functions that I like, vibrate, a good selection of tones and so on.
Bad Points
The Network reception seemed to have a mind of its own. When I had a good reception chances are my friends with me would have a poor reception and vice versa. Generally I found this frustrating. You could guarantee that when I needed to use it, it didn’t want to know.
The DB2000 software has a couple of bugs in it. Occasionally when you access the menu, the phone would “hang” and then retry to search for the Network.
Apart from the Gremlins, I broke the clip, which held the battery on, come to think of it, so did everyone who owned this phone. “This phone does not look as nice with a piece of selatape on the back”. Hmmm.
The charger connection is too fiddly also. Long thin plastic prongs can be easily bent.
On another Network this phone may be a good buy (reading other views), but on switching my SIM to a Nokia 3210, all of a sudden I could call where I’d never called before.
It really is a shame, on the whole this phone is brilliant, just don’t try and make or re
ceive any calls!!!!!
