Nokia 1680
Let's have a look on new Nokia 1680, a classic series phone with budget functions. Nokia, one of the leading brand in cellular phones market, have its market in all direction with common people's phone to higher luxury models. Nokia classic phones are generally have traditional look but they are just available in lower range or in middle range with some good featured phone and some of them are only for calling purpose.

Nokia 1680, upgraded version of Nokia 1600 with some improved features and design. Phone has good looking classic design but it has limited features as this one is only for calling purpose. I am going to discuss some good features of the phone but there are some disadvantages also with this phone in terms of connectivity so that you might not be interested but some people will really like to have this.

Let's go through its design, there are nothing special with its size and it has 108 x 46 x 15 mm, size and the total weight of the phone is about 74gm. Display is slightly better than its previous version and now it has 128 x 160 pixel resolution and TFT, 65K colors screen. Display is very nice with good brightness and contrast.

Now I am going to have a look on memory function, than it has good internal memory with about 32 MB user memory, and I can say that in these types of phone , the memory size is better than what we can expect. And we know that there are no possibilities of card slot in these types of phone and Nokia has provided good internal memory without any card slot. At the memory point phone is better than it rivals. 32 MB memory is just enough for internal data storage as JAVA applications, contacts, messages etc.

At last phone failed in connectivity solution as there are no Bluetooth, no infrared port and not any USB port. The phone only support as connectivity feature that is GPRS and EDGE. GPRS in essential in budget category phones so that there is no doubt of having GPRS but the very disappointing thing is that this phone must have USB and atleast Bluetooth or infrared port. But as this is a decision of Nokia and we or customer will decide whatever is required or not.

We have seen that Nokia have good range of phones in budget category with excellent battery life with long talk time and standby time. But here it is slightly lower than that high capacity BL-5 C in Nokia 1100 etc. This phone has been provided with Standard lithium ion battery, Li-Ion 700 mAh (BL-5CA), and 700 mAh battery is not so good but it is average battery with about 4-5 hours of talk time.
*********
All other features are more or less common with compare to budget category phones but this phone doesn't have any FM radio and of course there is no possibility of music player so, the main disadvantage is that there is no FM radio in this phone. But but the feature that I don't like in any of the phone that is VGA camera, and this phone has been provided a VGA camera,. I am unable to understand, why Nokia is trying to keep a bad quality VGA camera instead of good connectivity features and music features?

Overall this phone is Ok foe calling purpose with good display quality but it failed in many other fields.
Summary: Below average phone
