Advantages: Very reliable, looks great and is slim, good features

Disadvantages: gettin a little old now :'(

Mobile phones have moved on in huge leaps and bounds since they were first invented, and to be honest looked ridiculous. People looked as though they were just carrying plastic bricks about with them. In the last 3 or 4 years however, bricks have become less and less popular, and slim, trendy and adventurous phones are the "in" thing.

I got my first mobile 3 years ago; it was a rather large siemens brick phone, which was super-cool back then, as I was one of the very few people who had them, which meant I could barely even use the text facility!

My next phone was the trustworthy, but boring Philips Savvy (or C12) which kept me satisfied for about 6 months, before I knew I had to venture out of the ordinary and purchase?a Nokia!!

These phones were the most expensive and best phones around when Nokia introduced their first models, and have been ever since. So at Christmas 2 years ago, I begged Santa to buy me one.

I woke up on Christmas morning, and ran downstairs (as you do!) and ripped open my presents like a savage dog! There before me lay the box of a?you guessed it Nokia 3210! I was absolutely delighted! I wasn't however so delighted when I realized I had to charge up the battery for 6 hours before I could use it, but nevertheless, I plugged in the charger I was provided with and cherished the rest of my presents and of course, the Christmas dinner.

So after these 6 hours had flown by, I finally got to turning it on. I was amazed by the opening welcome graphic, which is two hands joining together with the Nokia logo underneath (this was miles before screensavers and the like came about) and I knew it was gonna be a great phone to have.

I guess I should talk more about the phone then.

**~~Appearance**~~
This phone is pretty easy on the eye. It's quite slim, and although it's quite long, it's not particularly unattractive or heavy. The keypad is nicely spaced out, and the
keys are great for simplicity and for texting. You can also change the covers, which makes it look very pretty!

**~~Menus**~~

PHONEBOOK- I?m not sure I need to explain what this is. Basically to store numbers in. This particular one can hold 100 name and numbers.

MY SERVICES- This menu function depends on which network you are on. I'm currently on 02, so I'm not sure about the rest of the networks. This shows you various useful numbers including the AA, RAC, Talking pages etc.

TONES- This is a set of 40 ringing tones, 2 of which you can choose, one is downloadable, and one you must compose yourself. This is also where you can change the volume of your ringtones, and change which message alert you have.

CLOCK- Take a guess at what this is? Well it?s a clock, in which you can programme the date, time, choose whether or not to have the time visible on your phone, and set an alarm.

CALCULATOR- Once again not hard to fathom. A basic calculator with functions of add, subtract, multiply, divide and equals. It also has an exchange rate function, which I gather is for changing money.

GAMES- Everyone loves games! This phone has three of them! 1) Rotation- this is when a bunch of numbers are mixed up and you must rotate them to put them in numeric order. I?m really crap at this one! 2) Memory- This is a test of memory, (didn?t see that coming did you?) You have to remember where symbols are and match them up into pairs to score points. 3) Snake- Everyone loves snake!! An easy game of cat and mouse, chasing a small dot around a screen by directing your ?snake? around using the numbered keys. As the snake grows longer, it?s hard to maneuver, which can be frustrating, but I love it!

CALL DIVERT- this gives you the option to divert calls, although it never seems to work on my phone, don?t know why?

SETTINGS- this is the option to change most of the things on the phone. Whether or not you
withhold your number, if you want to use a PIN code, which language you want it in, if you want a welcome note, I could go on forever.

CALL REGISTER- This is where the centre of your social life happens, you can check missed calls, received calls, dialed numbers, and check how long you've spent on the phone. A warning though, calls you miss when your phone is switched off don?t show up on your phone, but if you are on 02, they show on 1471.

MESSAGES- a place for memorable things, like pictures of naked men, messages form loved ones, and piss taking messages can all be found here. Inbox- where all your oncoming messages go to. It has the capacity to save 10 messages (I think). When you cannot store any more, a flashing envelope appears on your screen. Outbox- where you can edit and save messages, usually used for humourous or picture messages (tee hee). You can write messages with up to 160 characters, which is not very many compared to newer models, but it's enough!

**~~Extras**~~
depending on how long you charge it for the first time, I find this phone has around 18 hours on standby, and around 2 hours talktime. I've dropped it a few times now, and it's only ever scratched a tiny bit, never dinted or smashed.

When I got it, this phone would cost around £80, but now you can only pick it up second hand, and it will only cost around £30.

Overall I really love this phone, and it has served me well, although it's time as my trusty friend shall be over soon. I have put a request in to Santa for him to buy me a brand spanking new Nokia 3510. I've heard good things about it, and it looks lovely. I will well and truly miss my little friend.. *sheds a tear*

If anybody would like to sign the farewell card, leave a comment..

I had a Nokia 3310 but really had problems with it & ended up exchanging it for a Panasonic.
