Advantages: Reliable, Long Life span, Tough

Disadvantages: not colour, no wap, getting on a bit now

The Nokia 3210 has been out for quite a few years now.
You can no longer buy them new so my review is based more for the second hand buyer.

I bought my 3210 in 2000 and I still use it every day now 3 years later. It is a well built sturdy phone. Mine has had quite a few knocks in its lifetime dropped on the floor onto tiles etc but still works and still has no graphical glitches which dogged the 8210.
The only damage done when dropped was the case would open up and you had to put it back together which is a 30 second job if that.

The cases for the 3210 are starting to get scarce now so its a good time to check your local shops for any spare case stock in the bargain bins. I bought two cases at my local market for 50 pence each , they were nothing fancy but will come in handy for the phone as it gets on.
The best cases to buy are the official nokia ones, they last a hell of a lot longer than the aftermarket things which are usually looking chipped and ragged within a month of purchase, but they are a heck of a lot cheaper.

Battery problems seem to be the main problem when buying an elderly 3210 they dont stay charged for as long as they used to. I used to charge mine overnight and it would last 3 to 4 days now I get a day or 2 days max power and that is with say up to 3 calls in that time period and roughly 30 text messages sent and recieved. you cant shut off the screen light to save power on the 3210 so your power drains whenever you press a button as the screen lights up, even during the day.
If you can afford it and the phone is in good general condition then it would be worth buying a new battery for the phone as the phone is likely to outlast even the second battery.

When you hold the 3210 it feels like a good phone, it has a heavy feel not too heavy but just right. It feels like it is quality as though its full of components most of the weight is just the battery but when i touch a modern phone i feel as thou
gh its a toy plastic one which I will break if i press to hard. You dont get that with the 3210 it is just right.

I have not had my 3210 unlocked but it is a simple phone to get unlocked and is usually only a low charge £10 max to get done. Once unlocked the phone will use any UK network sim. It will probably use many foreign networks also but I have not looked into that as I do not use my phone abroad.

another update now 5 years and the 3210 is still going strong been knocked off the cupboard out in the rain etc.. and used daily for years. Its now going into semi retirement once more as i have a 7250i now which I have been using for a few months ,it also seems to be a sturdy beast taking a few knocks so far with no glitches. as for the 3310 I have come across 3 of them with friends all have had graphical glitches and 1 of them is treated like gold. 1 of them has also developed a problem with the buttons i am glad i bought a 3210 not a 3310

an update (july 26th 2004)
I used my 3210 until recently getting a 8310 as replacement and used the 3210 as my 'spare' phone for a while , until on a recent visit to chester Zoo in a rain downpour my 8310 got ruined in a very wet pocket.
the 3210 is still in action after 4 years the sturdiest and most reliable phone i have ever used.
would recommend this to anyone , in fact i just inherited another fom my mum and noticed batteries going for £3 brand new on Ebay.
fantastic
