Advantages: Cheap, cheerful and does the job
Disadvantages: Won't please feature happy friends
Although I don't have particularly large hands, I can't be doing with all the faffing around that comes with most modern telephones, few telephones offer buttons big enough for your average bloke to paw, it seems to me that most buttons either need to be pressed in with a nail or just don't lend themselves to SMS as you end up pressing about 3 buttons at once, the Nokia 3220 has plenty of room on its fingerboard and it's buttons are easily pressable.
I don't like fancy phones, I want one that can send SMS's and be used to call, I want one that doesn't break when dropped and don't need my telephone to turn in to nightrider with a cacophony of possibilities. I don't want to listen to music on my phone, be able to shoot missiles or take graphic photos of my bottom, just one that calls simply.
This is pretty much the Nokia 3220, the only fancy thing that it really has are green and red flashing lights on the side of the phone that flash like mad when you receive an SMS, your messages are full or if you receive a call.
This looks a little garish and even amongst today's much moderner phone, seems to raise eyebrows occasionally. I'm undecided whether I like it or not, it had rubbery strips covering a plastic casing where the lights eminate from.
I found it irresistible to rip them off for some reason and then ended up losing the plastic parts when I dropped it. I therefore have a slightly stripped down version of it, which works fine despite it's slightly Onslowesque (Keeping Up Appearances) features.
I've dropped this phone numerous times and it often lands perfectly, when it does it breaks into 3 parts and is easily put together again. I've been swimming with it in a lake and had it wet in the shower numerous times and each time it has dried out exceptionally quickly.
There's not much in the way of features and it's low on memory but it does the job.
