Advantages: Smart, basic, affordable and a fantastic mobile.

Disadvantages: On its way out because more newer mobiles are coming through into the shops.

The Nokia 3310 mobile phone is a little bit dated now, with all the new technology and gadgets on the newer mobile phones.
I have still got my first 3310 mobile phone I bought it years ago and its still working fine, it's just the battery-when you charge it up it doesn't last a week now but when I first got it the battery did last for weeks at a time (I need to replace the battery).
Mobile phone prices vary alot and my 3310 mobile was about £130 brand new years ago. I bought it on the Vodafone network from Comet at Crown Point Retail Park in Leeds.
This model is a good size for handbags and pockets.
FEATURES:
There are different categories in the phones menu.
I will go through these in order.

PHONE BOOK:
I have found that the amount of numbers that you can store varies depending on the network.
I'm on the Vodafone network and you can store 100 contacts.
You have the option to search through your phone book, whereby you can enter the name of the person you want to call and it finds the number for you.
This is abit pointless as from the main screen you can just press down and the first letter of the name you want and it gets you there quicker.
Then you have the option to add names, erase and edit them. You can also assign ringtones to people, so that you know who is calling you.
You have options on how you want to view the names in your phone book, whether you want name and number or just a name list. Also in these options it tells you how many contacts you have left and how many more you can add.
Another feature in the phone book is speed dialing so you can set certain numbers that you can call by pressing one button. A really interesting feature is that it has voice tags, this is where you can press the main button and say a name then it calls that person.
It sounds cool but I don't use this because you have to say the name in the exact same way that you did when recording it. Might sound stupid but you don't realise until you try.

MESSAGES:
In this option you can type text messages (SMS), receive them and store them. You can also send picture messages.
There is an option named templates which allows you to make up standard messages such as "Please call" , "Im at home", "I'm at work", "Im in a meeting" to save you time on typing out a message.
You can turn on the delivery reports. This informs you when your message has been delivered to the recipient.

CHAT:
I haven't worked out how to use this feature but I think it is very similar to text messaging but you can use it if you want a long conversations.

CALL REGISTER:
Here you can see who you have missed calls from, received calls from, who you have called and the time of the call.
On the Vodafone network your phone automatically stores up to 10 in each section. You can erase these if you want to. You can also see the call durations.

TONES:
Here is the fun part.
The phone is already pre-set with lots of ringtones such as Walzing Matilda, Jingle Bells, Happy Birthday and Auld Land Syne.
However you can buy ringtones for your mobile from the internet, magazines and shops. You can compose your own ringtones.
You can set the volume of the ringtones, your incoming call alert can be turned off, you can choose your message alert tone and choose whether or not you want the keypad tones, warning tones and vibrating alert on or off.

SETTINGS:
Here you have your mobile setting where you can choose what language you want, put a welcome note on for when you turn on your phone, turn on a pin code to keep intruders out of your phone and alter security settings.

CALL DIVERT:
Here you have the option to divert calls if you are going to be busy or choose when to divert them such as when the phone is off, when you don't answer, when there is no network coverage etc.
The call will be diverted to your voicemail service that you can set up by calling the number provided by your network.

GAMES:
More fun here.
On the 3310 you can play four games, they are:
-Snake 2.
-Pairs.
-Bantumi and Space Impact.
They are quite basic but can be addictive.

CALCULATOR:
This speaks for itself really but you have an exchange rate option and you can have a foreign currency converter.

REMINDERS:
You can set reminders to let you know things like special days or the time of your hairdressing appointment. The alarm goes off to remind you.

CLOCK:
You can set the time so you can use it as a watch, you can also set the alarm so it's good if you don't wake up easily in the mornings but be warned if you don't stop the alarm it gets louder and louder.

PROFILES:
Lastly, you can set your phone on different modes such as silent if you don't want to hear it go off, vibrate, loud etc. You can set these yourself.
All these features above are very easy to use except the CHAT feature I still don`t know how to use it.

You can change the face of your mobile, there are lots of different covers you can buy. This means you can personalise your phone to your required taste.

I definatly recommend this mobile phone to a first time mobile buyer since it is easy to use, navigate and quite fun too.

Summary: Great mobile for first time buyers.

An excellent over view here. My mum still has hers as a back up, bought it from Vodafone the first year it was launched and still sparkles into life whenever its switched on.

An old standby and I wish I had one. Who needs all those bells and whistles? Just a couple things: I'd like to recommend you put your reviews through a spelling checker, since I noticed a few mistakes here, and that will also help you with formatting the paragraphs. This review is very comprehensive, but you shouldn't feel obliged to talk about each and every feature - just the ones you particularly like or have problems with. Finally, don't forget that we would like to know how the sound quality of these phones is - i.e., can you hear people and can they hear you. But in general, a very nice review.
