Advantages: Small, light, assignable (and customiseable) ring tones.

Disadvantages: Not the sturdiest thing around - but with a phone case, who cares? I'm not going to chuck it at anyone!

Having recently been given a 3310 as a gift, I was first of all delighted by the lightness and size of it, compared to the Nokia 5146 which I'd been using up till then.

Gone is the big, chunky battery which doubled the size and weight of older Nokias. In comes a neat, tiny little thing which fits INSIDE the phone instead of piggy-back riding it to hell and back! And as far as aesthetics go, covers for the 3310 are on both the front AND the back of the phone which I found much nicer compared to my old 5146.

Also - and it may seem a small thing - being able to programme in your favourite tunes to use as a ring tone does go a long way to personalising this phone - as if covers weren't enough - feh! One can also assign specific ring tones for specific people so you know just by listening who's calling you.

On a more practical level, this phone has all the versatility and power we have come to expect of Nokia but the reduced size and weight makes it a truly portable communication device, whether you fit it into a handbag or pocket, it's much easier to carry around.

The menus, with their big, chunky, animated graphics are also easy to use and pleasant to look at. One also has the option of a screen saver, although I don't quite know why that's necessary. Just an excuse for another picture *apart* from the logo, I suppose - and yes, both screen savers and logos are customiseable.

This phone, having been purchased from Argos, came with a very handy free accessory kit in the shape of a single strap backpack (with mobile pocket, of course), a metal-covered personal organiser and a phone case. As far as I know, Argos are still promoting with these free accessory kits - perhaps other stores are too. Worth checking out.

All in all, I'm well chuffed with my 3310 and I have no desire to "upgrade" any more in the forseeable future.
