Advantages: great features, great games, great value
Disadvantages: does not store enough texts, doesnt store enough numbers
"Very reliable" is what you will see in one of my advantages of this handset. Nokias have this habit of always being reliable, and most of my friends have Nokia handsets. I highly recommend them as they seem to be the phone that doesn't let you down. I have had my 3310e now for 2 years and brought it after my old phone was stolen. I'm now very thankful of the bugger that stole my old phone as it now means I have an excellent replacement!! THE MAIN SCREEN Out of all phones Nokias main screen is it's major plus point. The layout of battery meter and signal are perfect, both going up either side of the screen. Then the "1 message recieved" sign is such a common site nowadays taken from the Nokia phone. Or missed calls are also displayed in a similar, basic, yet effective way. It's very easy to navigate to all the different functions from the starting screen. It allows you to easily change the sound of the ring tone from here too, as you just press the off button on the top of the phone and you can pick from a range of sounds from very loud, general, silent etc. Finally it displays the time in the top right hand corner which rounds off the whole display well. PHONE BOOK The functions, as has been mentioned, are easy to access from the main screen. The first of the menu functions is the PHONE BOOK this is good, but not excellent. You can easily add names quickly, but one of the few downfalls of this phone is that it only stores 90 numbers. Many Nokias now store up to 200 numbers. In the PHONE BOOK you can then assign a tone for different people, i.e.my ex gf has the tone/song "Bitch". This is an amusing feature, but can be a little tedious installing all these different tones for each different person, but it's soley up to the user whether he wants to use this function, I do and like it. Further to these assigning tone features you can personalise people with voice tags, this again is s
o,mething I have tried to use but don't any more. Voice Tags I don't think were originally invented by Nokia, it was Siemens, but I don't really appreciate this feature. It's good to add them again as a laugh, but you look like an idiot standing in the street shouting "me bitch" or "dog" down your phone. Voice tags say they recognise your voice exactly, but time after time it doesn't reconise your rambling down the phone. MESSAGES When writing messages I would highly recommend the predictive text function, which you apply by pressing the hash key 3 times when you enter into "write messages", this allows much quicker text typing. The "Inbox" is another slight downfall as you can only store 10 texts as a maximum at any time, but this also includes the "Outbox". So 10 texts are the max you can store in both combined. Sorry to pick up on what other Nokias do again but many store up to 30 texts at any time. So it is a bit of a hassel to be constantly deleting texts you may well want to keep, but just don't have the space. Picture messaging is a function I don't use much but can again be an entertaining addition, as you can send great pictures/cartoons. You can put on the function reports too, which is useful if it's an important text and you want to know whether the text has reached its location. CHAT Is a function that I don't really see the point of as it is just another way of texting people, and that's just about all it seems to do. CALL REGISTER This is the function which enables you to see your recent received and missed callls, and dialled numbers. Again perhaps a slight negative point about this is that it doesnt store enough numbers, as it only stores 10, more would be better. The best function on here is the call duration displays, this is very useful for when you need to know how much time youve spent on the phone and
how much credit you may have used up. TONES The tones are a major plus point of all Nokia phones and the 3310e is no exception as you can have up to 42 different ringing tones. This function also allows you to download 7 of your own tones on to the phone. Or simply compose 7 of your own tones, I would recommend downloading them though as when you compose a tone it sounds diabolical. This function gives vibrating as a possibility, and this is a great function for if your ina meeting or you need your phone on silent for another reason, but still need to know when your phones going, perfect. The screen saver also comes under TONES and this gives you 1 of 14 screen savers to choose from, some are far to cheesy to put on your phone, but some are passable and give a good appearance to your phone if you havent downloaded an internet logo. The thing with dowloaded tones and logos is they cost quite a bit of money from the wrong firm. So be careful of those firms trying to charge you £3 per logo or tone, don't do it! You can find far better deals, monkeymobile.com is a good place to get them, or I think monstermobiles do some quite good deals to tart up your phones. SETTINGS One of the best features under settings is to allow you to set up welcome note which is great. Basically meaning when you turn the phone on you have a note straight away, mine is still set to "ENGLAND 1 ARGENTINA 0 OOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIII" yes it's a great additional feature when you can put things like that on. GAMES Another one of Nokias extremely strong points over most phones. The 3310e gives you games such as SNAKE 2, SPACE IMPACT, BANTUMI AND PAIRS 2. All great games for a boring journey especially space impact a great game. CALCULATOR A good additional function for those dumb moments in life. REMINDERS These often prove very useful when you need a reminder of a date, as it allows
you to write in the thing your remembering such as a brithday and then you can put on an alarm for that day and time. CLOCK This function is almost a necessity for any phone and would be expected of a Nokia. But it does offer a stopwatch within the functionn which is a excellent addition. SUMMARISING This phone is ideal for most users, but does have is limitations on some functions such as how much info it can store. Apart from this I have no option but to completely recommend this phone 100%. I also have it pay as you go and it is now one of the cheaper ones on pay as you go, I think when i picked it up it was £90 pay as you go, so now would be down to around £60 I would expect.
