Advantages: Easy to use, Good value for money
Disadvantages: May be too basic for some people, Fairly obsolete now
Practically everyone has a mobile phone now, and there are now a variety phones available that would suit anyone, depending on what exactly you want out of it. The mobile phone that I bought fairly recently is a Nokia 3410, and I feel it is ideal for me.
It may not have any fancy or 'modern' features like video messaging or a camera, but it does, in my opinion have simple-to-use functions and is easy to use for texting and calling, which is most important to me.
The phone itself is about 4 inches long and the casing on mine is pale blue and grey with silver buttons that are joined to each other in rows. The phone is slightly more sophisticated (and nicer-looking, in my opinion) than the 3310, but is essentially the same phone with just a few improvements.
Texting is easy, and like others Nokia phones I’ve seen, when writing a text, you can choose 'predictive' text where it makes the words for you as you type - but this can be quite annoying! You can also choose from a menu from inserting smilies, symbols/punctuation, and phone numbers to add to your text message before you send it to someone.
You can also set up a call list, as with all mobiles, of your important numbers of friends or family so you can access them quickly for calling or texting. Under the 'Message' section all the text messages you receive are stored in the inbox and texts you send are kept in the outbox. You can also view templates, pictures and smilies in this section for use in text messages.
Other sections similar to this on the phone include 'Call Register', 'Profiles', 'Downloads', 'Applications', which are good to have on a mobile, but I haven't had the need to use these as such. On 'Settings' you can access all the available Ringtones you have to use on your phone (and there are quite a lot!), including tone volumes and text message alert tones, as well as Time Settings, Call Settings, Phone Settings, and Security Settings.
There's also the Games that are available on Nokia phones and these include Snake 2, Space Impact, Bantumi, and Bumper; I have played these a few times and they're okay to play. You can also download games from other sources, but I doubt I'd use this feature. There are also other useful features such as an alarm, a calculator, and you can also programme the date and time into the phone.
The one main drawback with this phone is that it is now fairly obsolete, and may be hard to find in some mobile phone shops if you wish to still purchase this make. I bought this as part of a T-Mobile package, which wasn't my first choice of network for a mobile phone, but the text messages are cheaper at 10p each; however calls can be as much as 30p per minute to any other network.
Overall, I think the Nokia 3410 is a really good phone, and I managed to buy mine for about £24.99 which is about £10 less than what price I'd seen it for in a few places before I finally bought it. The phone came in a box with instructions manual, an E-Top-up card, and charger. I had to put the various parts of the phone such as case, battery and SIM card together and then charge the phone before I could use it. It also did not come with any top-up already on it.
It is a worthwhile purchase if you're after a simple phone that is easy to send texts from; on the downside, the 3410 make may be obsolete and less desirable than another, more up-to-date phone model. But like I said, it is easy to use as with most Nokia phones, and I would highly recommend this phone if that's pretty much all you require in a mobile phone.
Thanks for Reading! :-)
