Advantages: Durable, reliable and dead-simple to use (i.e. there's not much to it!)

Disadvantages: Extremely limited functionality in comparison to today's cheapest phones

This was the first mobile phone I ever owned. That was five years ago. Am I ashamed to say that this is *still* the mobile phone I use daily? As a young 20-something, I can honestly say: I am not ashamed!

You may wonder "why would you be ashamed?" Well, let's face it. In the early 2000s, the Nokia 3410 was THE phone to have. You could send text messages, picture messages and (most importantly) play "Snake" as one of the Game options. It really was one of the most popular phones on the market. It was relatively cheap, it did all the things mentioned above (it would, of course, allow you to make calls!) and the consumer could buy a whole array of phone covers to personalise their phone.

In 2009, I find that the Nokia 3410 is greeted with a mixture of surprise and nostalgia - perhaps that's just the people I know. It's definitely worth pointing out now that this little guy doesn't sport ANY of the modern conveniences of the mobiles on the market today. But rather than focus on the lack of camera, mp3 player or colour screen, let's look at the positives!

The Positives
Well, you can store up to a grand total of 10 text messages... and... it's got an alarm clock in it.

The Negatives
You can only store up to 10 text messages. This is really the most annoying thing about it. I have to constantly empty my inbox.
The screen is black and white... well, more black and green.
The buttons click rather loudly.
The ringtones are awful - even in it's day, the only one worth boasting about was the classic Nokia tone.

I think it's fair to say that if you ONLY want to make phone calls and have a handy pocket sized alarm clock then this is the phone for you. And it's the phone for me.
If you're after more functionality I'm confident that you'll find a decent phone for £20 (the same price I bought this Nokia for, back in the day) and enjoy a good few years of use before the next big development is made.

Summary: If you only want to make calls and send the odd text message, this will suit you fine

Good start, but I was wondering about the calling sound quality, how easy it is to see the screen and type up texts, using the phonebook and if you have any problems with the ringtones or the battery life.

With something this simple, I would have expected a bit more about how well it works as a phone.
