Advantages: predictive text, changeable fascias, ringtone composer
Disadvantages: none
I've had this phone for about a year now and I'm in love with it! Its easy to use, has loads of features and above all it even vibrates! When I got this phone it came free of charge as part of a special offer when my mam renewed her contract with vodafone. My mam didn't want it so I became it's lucky new owner! To buy the phone on a pay as you go package it'll usually set you back between £79.99 and £109.99 depending on which service provider you choose. The phone itself is a mint greeny colour and is quite similar to the 3310 in shape but maybe slightly larger. Nokia has gone for a slightly different keypad layout this time but the phone is still very easy to use. The phone weighs roughly 114g. The phone has a built in antenna which has become quite common in mobiles now. The keypad is relatively easy to use and the keys are of a reasonable size. The display screen is also a good size so that it is easy to see what you're doing. The phone comes with many features. The phonebook has space to store approximatley 200 numbers but this may vary with different service providers. Ringtones can be assigned to certain phone numbers so that you always know who is calling you. The mobile allows voice activation calling and speed dial. I often find however that voice activation calling can be a bit of a pain because if you dont say the word exactly right then you find that the phone will not recognise it. I often find myself standing in the middle of the street shouting "Home!" at my mobile, passers by must think I'm a complete nutter! The phone comes with 35 predefined ringtones and space for 7 customisable tones. The predefined tones include the usual tones you would expect to se on a nokia including the infamous "Nokia tone". The mobile has a ringtone composer so that you can create your own ringtones as well as download them. You also have the choice of a vibrating alert when your phone rin
gs or you recieve a message. As well as a ringtone composer the mobile comes with a choice of screensavers including 3D animated ones. These can be a lot of fun especially the ones that involve text that you can edit to say what you want it to say. Like most Nokias the mobile comes with games. This particular model has a choice of 5 games. These games are Snake 2, Space Impact, Bumper, Bantumi and Link 5. The games can prove to be great fun when you're bored and instructions on how to play each game can be found on the phone. Texting on this phone has the option of predictive text input. If you've read my Nokia 3210 op you'll know that I myself don't rate predictive text input mainly because i have no clue how the hell to use it. Apparently though it can prove very useful. You can write and send text messages that may contain almost 3 standard texts. This is one drawback, you think that you're writing one text message but it in fact takes up three and can end up costing you more money. A standard text message is roughly 150 characters. The mobile also allows you to send picture messages to other compatable phones. Picture messages cost a small amount more than a standard message. Th phone comes with a picture editor which allows you to draw new pictures or edit the preset pictures to use as screensavers or send as picture messages. I have no idea how this function works or whether its worthwhile using as I've never had the time to sit and use it. The mobile allows you to view the past 10 recieved and missed calls and you can delete them at anytime. It also shows the last 20 dialled numbers which can also be deleted att any time. You can decide whether you want to withhold your phone number when dialling out and whether or not you want a pin code. The mobile allows you to set a welcome note when the phone is turned on, when this fuction is not in use the standard hands reaching out logo is shown. Lik
e most Nokias this phone has changeable fascias which come in a wide range of colours and patterns. The fascias usually cost between £10 and £20, most come with a accompanying keypad but those can also be bought separatley for about £5 The mobile also has a variety of other features including a calculator, a currency converter, a stopclock, calender and alarm clock. The phone comes with a WAP option which I tend not to use as it can prove expensive. With this option you can download java games and applications. In conclusion I think that this phone is excellent value for money and has a wide range of features. The phone is small and reliable and the battery seems to last quite a while (between 2 - 4 hours of talktime or 55 - 260 hours on standby) The charger is easy to use and its just a matter of plugging it in, the phone does not take a huge amount of time to charge but first time round it can take up to 12 hours which is a long time when all you wanna do is play with your new toy! It even vibrates! Thanx for reading Jenni xx :o)
