Advantages: Ok design, Full screen clock
Disadvantages: Stupid MMS, Crap Ringtones, Annoying SMS key 7 thing
I bought this phone on contract from O2 a little while ago (about October 2002) and greatly anticipated it's arrival. I was very much looking forward to using Polyphonic ringtones and the MMS feature. The phone arrived and when I got it set up I have to say I was just a bit dissapointed. Design ****** I'll admit the phone looks quite nice. It is quite large compared with some phones, but I didn't see this as much of a problem. The keys have a nice look, wierd, but not too wierd that you cant use the phone. I don't like the compulsary yellow/green power button at the top. It get dirty very easily and spoils the look of the phone. Also the facias do not cover the entire phone, leaving a gap of clear plastic on either side. This was very annoying when I accidentaly spilled ink on the phone - getting another cover couldn't entirely fix the problem. Ringtones ******** I was very much looking forward to using the polyphonic ringtones, but was greatly dissapointed. The phone (along with most poly nokia phones) only supports 4 tracks. This still sounds marginally better than normal tones, but most ringtone companies make poly tones with much more track, which phones like the Samsung T100 have no problem with, the 3510 played these tones with gaps in sound. MMS & SMS ********** Come on nokia! A phone with a B/W screen that can only recieve MMS? What the hell is the point? In my opinion this is a feature that will never be used on the 3510 and was only Nokias way of appealing to the "I wan't my phone to have cool features" crowd. Otherwise this feature is pointless. The SMS part of the phone is just the same as all other nokia phones, but I have noticed that when typing any letter P,Q,R or S (on the 7 key) sometimes it doesn't register the key press, dispite beeping. This is a pain. Other Features ************ I like the calender feature, which
I have never had on any previous phones. This is a very nice addition (and great for remmbering parents birthdays/anniversaries!). I also like the ability to use a digital or analog clock as a screen saver. This was quite usefull. Now games.... I was not very impresses with the lack of Nokia's trademark Snake game (or snake 2 as it would have been in this case) I do like the game Bumper, which is a pinball game, but this does not make up for the appaling quality of games in general on this phone. Conclusion ********* This phone is just like any other nokia phone, except it looks different and has a couple of extra (and in this phones case, pointless) features. Nice design, i'll admit, but in my opinion nokia has screwed this one up a bit.
