Advantages: Advanced MMS features., Cheap to buy and run., Robust build.
Disadvantages: Low-rez screen., In my opinion, too bulky., No infrared connectivity.
I think Nokia?s corporate strategy has boiled down to re-vamping older models starting from the Nokia 3210 then 3310,3330,3410,3510 and now the 3510i. A good friend of mine recently purchased this handset from a reputable dealer for around a £100 and upon first seeing it; I couldn?t help but wonder what the selling points were on this handset. The 3510i has a few extra features when pitted against its predecessor, the 3510. The differences are minimal but noticeable. The deference?s being the addition of a colour screen and the ability to send and receive multimedia messages over the predecessors ?receive only? ploy. A large colour display along with a well-placed keypad of equal proportions, make this handset a definite practical ease-of-use number in keeping with the Nokia design trend. It?s of good build quality which shows as it weighs in at 106g, 1g heavier than its older brother. Weight can be a serious issue as different people prefer handsets of different size/weights. The lighter the mobile, the easier it is to loose but then again, do you want an ingot in your pocket? Well, your not very likely to loose this baby but don?t hold that against me! On an overall note though, I would recommend this handset to anybody in search of a mildly future proof handset. There no known software glitches to my knowledge and it supports a whole host of features including MMS, WAP 1.2.1, and is relatively cheap to purchase. All you have to do is to look at such previous models like the 3310 etc to realise that the 3510i follows in its grandparent?s steps with regards to good build quality and reliability at a sensible price. Nice one Nokia, thumbs up!
