Advantages: Easy To Use, Indivdual, Brightly lit
Disadvantages: Colour Screen, Polyphonic Ringtones, Vibration
I have had my 5100 for just over 4 months now. When it came through the post I opened it and was initially pleased that it wasn?t as big as it looked in most pictures but when I compared it with my old 3310 it was only a bit smaller and when I compared it with my friends 8310 it looked huge. The phone is quite big for a relatively new model, but this is mostly due to the clip on shell that protects it from bumps etc. The colour screen is ok, but not fantastic. The polyphonic ringtones sound quite basic compared with SonyEricsson models, for example, and the vibration is poor as the shock proof shell absorbs all the vibrations. The keypad is good and easy to use, as is the whole phone really. The phone, in my opinion looks very nice and is quite light. The phone is very useful at night as the phones? display and keypad both light up very brightly and there is a torch incorporated into the phone, which is useful when trying to find keyholes etc. The main function of the phone (the water and shock protection) works well and the rubber case appears unmarked after 4 months of (intense) damage. The wap on the phone is quite average and slow. You can be quite individual buying this phone, seeing how not many people own this model, that to me is an advantage. My overall impression of the phone is average. Not great, not terrible. Saying this, I would tell people to stay away from the 5100 and these types of phones (6100, 7210, 6610); as my friend has a 7210, which is very similar to my phone only looks different but the controls and content are the same and I would not recommend it. The price of the 5100 will be lowered soon, no doubt, and will probably be available on Pay As You Go. Other phones on contract are better than this one. PS Despite what the description on this site says the phone does have picture message capabilities (MMS) and there is a camera attachment which can be bought separately.
