Advantages: Good value, Bright Screen, Looks good
Disadvantages: Crashes occasionally, On/Off Button
Ive had my 5100 for around 4 months now. The phone itself doesn't have a scratch on it, thanks to the magnificent, sturdy, rubbery outer shell. The phone itself is a good performer. It was only £24.99 when purchased as part of an excellent contract offer on O2's website. A previous review of this model has been somewhat critical, but the comparisons made in reports are to phones which are a higher specification and hence more costly to purchase. The Nokia 5100 has a good colour screen which is lit by a white backlight. It has the ability to store screensavers which can be created using the plug in camera. It can also store around 70 polyphonic ringtones, which are played to a reasonably high standard. The menu's on the phone comprise of a phone book, messages, call register, profiles, settings, alarm clock, radio (which can be played using a plug in adaptor, the sound quality is excellent for the size of the plug in adaptor), gallery (where ringtones and pictures are stored), oragniser (with calender and reminder lists), games, applications, extras (calculator, countdown timer, stopwatch, calorie counter, thermometer and soundmeter-all very cool little gadgets to play with, and accurate), connectivity (inrfa red etc) and services (WAP, GPRS). This phone has everything on it I personally need to get by. The phone book has a huge memory, I wish I had enought mates to fill it! The phone comes with Bounce, Sky Diver and Triple Pop as its games, more being downloadable via WAP, GPRS and Infra Red. This phone is a fun little contraption, definitely one for the blokes, its very sturdy and can withstand all the knocks and bangs a mobile phone normally gets, without falling into 5 pieces. The only problem I really have with this model is the on/off button which is very small and difficult to operate, other than this, the Nokia 5100 is an excellent model and good value for money.

- 11/12/03 Thanks for the kind remarks. Guess the rubbery look of the phone is all down to personal taste. |
