Advantages: Looks good, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Technical faults, Out of date now!, Too big!
I felt I had to write about my experiences with the Nokia 5110. I know it's a bit out of date now, but just in case anyone was thinking of buying this phone second-hand. When my boyfriend got his Nokia 5110 I thought it was the greatest thing! Two months later I just had to buy my own. I got a pay as you talk package from Vodafone which at the time cost around 80 pounds. I was so pleased with my new phone and enjoyed the novelty of sending messages to my friends and playing the games especially snake! However not very long after I got it my phone had a little accident- I dropped it into a toilet!!!!! It was clean, otherwise I wouldn't have fished it out again, but ever since it's been a bit broken! My phone frequently switches itself off and doesn't respond when the on button is pressed. The screen also fades out a lot. Fair enough this is my own fault as the phone was immersed in water and even though it's under guarantee they couldn't fix it. My boyfriend's phone also does strange things but nothing has happened to it. His also switches itself off and has a fading screen. Several of my friends have had similar problems with their Nokia 5110s so it must be a fault within the phones. Here are what I think to be the main good and bad points of Nokia 5110s- weigh them up and decide yourself. Next time I think I'll go for something different. Pros: -many features including games! -easy to use -not too bulky -looks good -interchangable covers in a range of different colours Cons: -switches itself off for no reason -screen starts to fade after a while -a bit bigger than the models around now -accessories are expensive

- 27/05/01 I have just bought the nokia 3330 and so far it is brilliant , i haven't experienced any problems at all. Like you i used to have a nokia 5510 and my screen used to fade occasionally but apart from that it was fine. |

- 24/05/01 I have the tiny little Nokia 8210 whose screen also messes up. It doesn't fade but suddenly all these lines appear all over it and move about whilst the proper text disappears. Although I was assured by carphone arehouse that they had never seen this problem before, I have three mates who have all had the same problem. Nokia phones look cool and have great features but not sure their reliability is quite up to scratch. |
