Advantages: dust proof, strong, long battery
Disadvantages: infrared badly positioned
The nokia 5210 phone (marketed as the active persons phone) is all i expected it to be and more! Very often i buy a phone and find it breaks after a few months. NOT THE 5210!!! The casing style protects it from damage when dropped, is splash proof and dust proof. I used to own a 3210 and if i took the casing for the phone off the inside would be extremely dusty and dirty but when i open my 5210 its as clean as when ii first bought it. Unfortunately the infrared sensor is badly positioned on the lower left side of the phone. When using infrared to transfer data with another phone the senor would be best positioned on the top of the phone. But how often do you use the infrared??? The clock screen saver option is great! I look at my phone very often to check the time. With the clock screen saver on the screen is dedicated to displaying the time so it is very easy to see. The has an extra long battery life and i find that the phone last me for up to about 3 days without a full charge. For any person who works in a dusty place such as a factory or building site and also needs a phone that is durable then the 5210 is the phone for you!

- 08/04/03 Don't like Nokia's personally, and have never needed a phone with an infrared sensor! But, after reading your review I'm thinking maybe I've been judging Nokia's unfairly - it sounds like a pretty smart phone!
Good op.
