Excellent phone with street level maps (Nokia 5220 XpressMusic)

Advantages: The maps! the maps! Disadvantages: Subscription if you want turn-by-turn
This is a fantastic phone for the price. I paid £90 for it a few months ago on Virgin pay as you go. It came with free battery-powered speaker which are good for the phone and other underpowered devices. It'll take a 4Gb micro SD card for music etc; and you will need a lot of storage - lots of free downloadable games are available from various sources. The music manager software is fine and the audio quality is decent. The big thing for me is Nokia Maps which the phone will run. You can download over the internet onto your PC (lots of data - hence need for big SD card) then transfer to the phone street level maps of the UK and many other contires. It can find addresses, and pinpoint and tell you the phone numbers of businesses, museums, petrol stations, ATMs etc nearby - all without connecting to a network. All the data is bulit into the maps you download. It can plan routes from A to B for free. If you have a GPS ariel/receiver, which I do - a TomTom receiver, you can bluetooth to it and have your current position shown on the phone - and tracked. The only thing you need to pay for (I can live without it) is an unreasonable monthly subscription to do the turn-by-turn realtime instructions. Summary: Great cheap phone with everything you expect, plus maps.
