Advantages: Features, great choice of software, price.

Disadvantages: Chronic reliability problems, software immaturity, suspect hardware quality.

The Good: Nokia's first touchscreen version of S60 works very well, and even manages to be compatible (to a point) with S60v3 certain applications I've tried. Mobile flash video on YouTube and BBC iPlayer are brilliant. The screen, the sound quality (even better than an iPod's IMHO) are all wonderful in a phone that's ostensibly mid-ranged. However, my first 5800 died without any warning, and refused to turn itself on, so was replaced by O2, and then the replacement model developed a glitch, which caused RealPlayer to playback blank videos. I searched for firmware updates, and realised the update had been pulled, due to even worse bugs (the phone lock interface changes to QWERTY instead of punching numbers in). After 3 weeks, I've had so many problems I have decided to swap mine for the Nokia E71, a shame as it was a really good effort to outdo the iPhone.

Summary: Phone simply does not inspire confidence that it will survive 17 more months' use without dying.
