Advantages: Stylish and very functional
Disadvantages: Hard to use while walking
As I began a new job I realised I'd need a phone that allowed me to send emails, had bluetooth connectivity and could organise my life. I thought about getting an iPhone or Blackberry but the price tag was a bit steep so I opted for the Nokia 5800. Internet connectivity is fantastic and the phone is very easy to use.
The phone looks very similar to the stylish iPhone (I assume its Nokia's attempt to provide a cheaper alternative). It comes with lots of applications including Instant Messenger and BBC iPlayer. There are not as many apps on the phone as the iPhone possesses but you can download plenty of others if you require them. You can use the phone to store appointments which appear on the home screen a few days before their booked day. I find this really helpful as it allows me to glance at the phone and always be aware of where I'm supposed to be. The handwriting tool is lots of fun. So far, the phone has never frozen or switched itself off whilst I have been using it which is a massive plus as all of my other phones have. The music app is one of the best I've seen, I'd definitely recommend it.
However there are, in my opinion, a couple of downsides to the 5800. The phone is extremely thick which makes it look like there should be a concealed compartment with a qwerty keyboard or similar inside. Also, I find it difficult to use the phone when on the move, especially when sending text messages.
I was quite annoyed that just a few weeks after purchasing the 5800, Nokia introduced the '5800 comes with music' phone which would be a better buy as you can download thousands of songs for free.
Summary: A good allrounder which is definitely a close alternative to the iPhone
