Advantages: Big touch screen, stereo speakers, quality camera
Disadvantages: Tinny sound, can be unresponsive
Starting off the new academic year, I decided that one of the things I needed the most was a new mobile phone. And the 5800 is the one that caught my eye.
In sleek black and not too chunky for the average ladies' pocket, but still chunky enough so you can't lose it in a cavernous handbag, the 5800 is packed full of features. From the OVI Store, where you can download and buy any number of apps, from a spirit level to a TravelMate weather checker, to the 3.2 Carl Zeiss lensed camera (which does some pretty good pictures - some of which taken on the phone were used for a presentation)
It also packs a musical punch, with the stereo speakers kicking out some of the best sound I've heard on a mobile, although rock and other bassy music may find it doesn't sound quite as good. It can be a little slow or a little over-responsive, but responds well to thumb presses and even has an on-screen keyboard to text your heart out.
Am impressed with this little monster, and I didn't even mention the wi-fi! A little tricky to set up, but once done, can be used in pretty much any place that has free wi-fi. Useful if you're stuck in a coffee shop waiting for someone, or if you're at home wanting to update or check your email.
Summary: Good for music and pictures, stylish and sleek
