Nokia 5800, great phone (Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)
Member Name: craig688
Advantages: Ease of use, great apps, connects wirelessly in various ways, MP3 as well. Disadvantages: Battery can have short live when using GPS Well my friends where all showing off there new I Phones, and I asked myself there must be something different? Well there is. I have the 5800 with red trim. The touch screen on this phone is sensitive and responsive. It comes packed with features and if you use the Nokia Ovi site then there are loads of apps available. It has numerous games on it, all high quality and fun. I have removed these off mine though as I am not a big gamer. The phone comes with GPS, Assisted GPS, bluetooth, WLAN. Making it able to connect in many ways when your out and about. The phone comes with Ovi maps, this is a brilliant sat nav programme and works really well, unfortunately this is not free and costs £59.99 a year. You can though get a 7 day free licence from Nokia to try it out. Also you can buy a licence instantly via 3.5G for 7 days and 30 days. You can get all the usual apps, like google maps. Just released by Nokia is the nokia sports app. Download this to your phone and it will connect using GPS to record the length and time of runs, walks, or cycle. It can then be uploaded to the nokia sports site. The phone also has the ability to e mail and check your e mails automatically. It operates using the symbian OS. This is much like using windows when installing and deleting apps. The phone can also be easily connected to a PC and the transfer of data is easily done via supplied software. The camera on it is not as good as modern cameras but is more than up to the, if it's a decent camera your after then go for another phone. It also comes with Facebook app installed for easy connection. If on 3, like myself, then you also get Skype installed. In general the phone is easy to use abd very user friendly. One down side is the battery. When using apps that use GPS then the life of the battery is considerably reduced. Otherwise for normal use it will last 3 days for an average user. Its music playing ability is brilliant, as an Mp3 player it works well, and even runs in the background letting you get on with other apps. It also has a built in radio tuner. The downloading and playing back of video is down with ease, using real player. I have used BBC i player and it worked well, again this will eat your battery. Screen clarity is good and the sound during playback through phone speakers is good. One plus is that the phone uses a normal head phone jack, no need for special head phones. The phone does sometimes slow up, only like a normal computer though. I would recommend to anyone who has this phone to get a screen protector and an outer case to protect it. They are an expensive piece of kit to replace, and that note make sure you have it insured. A great alternative to the i phone, that does it all and does it well. Nice one Nokia. Summary: Overall a great phone
