Advantages: Doea what a phone should

Disadvantages: Not s flashy as some may require

When I took up my position as vending supervisor, my employment circumstances were what I consider somewhat unusual. I worked for Compass doing the vending and then the Bank for which the vending is supplied had a whole new vending system installed by Selecta. Compass was still in charge but I was paid by Selecta through Compass. Initially this was more complicated by each having different ideas of how the new vending concept should be implemented. I was stuck as piggie in the middle. Before the new installations there were only a few machines, after there were 90+ so more people were employed and I was made supervisor. Communication as in most companies was pretty poor and I had to go through Compass to get information from Selecta...............a bit of a shambles then. In an effort to alleviate the situation I was given a phone. Being that the machines were spread over a large complex the two new vendors were also given phones so that I could keep in contact with them about work related topics. The phones we wee given were the Nokia 6021.

I have noticed that throughout the bank where phones are supplied to employees, the preference seems to be for these phones, and after using mine for some while now I can clearly see why. The phones we have are connected to the Vodaphone network and I have NEVER had any problems concerning connection issues. In fact I have barely had any problems at all with the exception that I do tend to forget to charge it up every so often.
I'm not going to kid you they are not the prettiest phone in the Nokia range, but they are also by no means the ugliest either. Although in recent times Nokia have changed their styling considerably for a while the basic shape of the 6021 was pretty much standard. A black and silver oblong box with a coloured screen. Recently after a bit of an accident one of the guys who works for me had to get a replacement and his replacement was still a 6021, which I think is testament to the fact that they are both solid and reliable in their construction.

The phones comes with some quite nice customised ringtones a screens, which are located under the themes menu. They are pretty and the ringtones compliment the associated picture. The phone isn't over heavy with features being that it appears they were primarily designed as a works phone, so lots of features would not be considered necessary. Therefore although a bit basic the phone does do most of the things you might require it to do with regards to a work environment. Having said this there are two games included, which is probably not a good idea for a phone designed for an employee.
Several good ringtones are available from the easy to use menu system which I guess most of us are now pretty familiar with. The phone has bluetooth but no camera. It has a folder for pictures which obviously have to be downloaded to the phone using the bluetooth connection or the Infra red connection which is also available. Apart from these modern communication facilities the phone is nothing more than a phone or text machine, no email a very basic SMS which can only cope with smaller pictures should you wish to include them. All in all if you are a manager looking for a good reliable phone for your workforce then this is the baby for you. There are no frills to distract, it is rugged and functional. Mine has taken some batterings and is still working perfectly.

If you are not looking for a phone with all the flashy new gimmicks, just one which will connect you when required, have a good battery life, will send a text no problem then this might be for you. They are still available at around £39.99 and at that price aren't a bad buy. If though you are young and into all the latest gizmos and cameras then perhaps you should look further a field. I'm used to my 6021 now and find it an invaluable tool, it is not perhaps the phone I would choose for personal use, but for work it is absolutely perfect.

Summary: A solid basic phone great for the work environment

I wish I had known about this one recently when my 2600 decided to die. They both look remarkably similar.

A good review - Nokia's have always been solid for me in the past, although I prefer the software on the samsung's now.
