I had this phone a few years ago and it was the favourite phone I had ever had. My mum bought me it and the reason she did was simply because it was cheap. The picture shown on the Dooyoo photo shows a silver phone whilst mines was pink. I thought the phone looked very pretty and very smart, and I wasn't afraid or embarrassed of bringing it out in public to use it.
Although nowadays it does not seem very hip or fashionable to have it, I would love to re buy it because I believe it is one of the cutest phones available and looks a lot better than the one I have now. The colour was very nice but not such a deep pink that it looked tacky or cheap, it is definitely a phone for the "girly girl". It had a silver surround which really emphasised the pink and gave it a more expensive look. It does look like a very high-tech phone and makes a personal statement which says "I know I'm not a techno freak, I know I'm not the richest, but I have a cute little phone and I'm happy with it".
It also had a little space for a chain which I wrapped a "forever Friends" bear with the letter 'K' on it, and also had another charm with a Cancer Research UK label. I thought this looked very girly, hip and funky.
The back of the phone has a very smooth backing and it is plain. This allows for the opportunity to stick phone gems on the back which I definitely did do, and increased the cool and funky look of the phone
The phone is a flip phone and you push up the screen to see your variety of numbers. It had a 0-9 dialling pad which I think is great as all these new touch screen phones are definitely not for me and the good old number pads are the best. I feel the buttons are very wide and this allows for faster and easier texting. As thinner buttons often cause for spelling mistakes to be made on the phone.
The menu came up on the phone as several pictures, which I much prefer as I can use it with ease without having to rush for my glasses to see tiny words. The top of the phone has a square button which acts as the "select" button and surrounding it is a silver rim and you press up to go up, down to go down, etc. This allows me to flick through the phone easily and quickly.
A feature I loved about this phone is that the music plays very loud, this allowed me to play music in the.
As someone who gets very confused when it comes to mobiles, text messaging and receiving texts were very easy.
I didn't find the game son it were all that good, some cannon call one that really wasn't much use atall but I suppose I didn't buy the phone for the games.
I have seen some reviews saying that the battery life is not up to scratch. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with this as I find the battery life on this was excellent. In fact, I thought I honestly never needed charging. I use to charge it for an hour and it would be back up to it's full battery life so I honestly can't see what the problem it. It is definitely better than the battery life mines has now.
This is a camera phone and the camera is very good. I have taken some great pictures with this camera and it looks almost as if it has been taken by a digital camera. It comes with a cable to add photos on to the internet and Is till have some of the photos that I had taken. The camera sometimes needed a little clean but that happens with all cameras.
If you're wondering why I don't have this phone since I love it so much, I lost it at a concert. They then found it but handed it into a police station, they wanted the reference number that was on the box before they gave it to me, and I had thrown out the box so I guess I lost my little phone forever
I had this phone about two years ago, in the light pink version which looked quite pretty and girly. I don't like the black version showed in the picture because honestly I think it makes the phone look ugly.
I got the phone as a Christmas present so couldn't telly you how much it cost at the time but I think it was probably around £80. At the time it was a brand new phone so looked really cool (or I thought it did anyway!) but nowadays it looks too thick and brick like compared to most new phones to be considered as cool by the younger generations. It currently costs £70 on amazon which I think is way too expensive especially considering you can buy newer, better phones than this for much cheaper. Even if you couldn't I didn't like this phone one bit and I still wouldn't recommend it.
It was not durable at all and it was breaking all the time, the slide was always getting jammed and things like this. The screen smashed a few times, I would get a new screen for it, then the outer side of the screen would fall off, I would get it replaced, then something else would go wrong, then something else and in the end the phone stopped working altogether.
I had to replace the battery a couple of times throughout the year I had this phone for, because batteries for this phone break really easily. They only have to be left on charge for five minutes and they overheat and stop working. So I had to keep getting new batteries for it.
Battery life was rubbish anyway, it would last one day at the most before running out. And also the hole that the charger goes in on this phone got damaged once as well and I had to have that fixed, too.
There were some good features on this phone such as bluetooth and digital camera, good volume, it wasn't too heavy, it has radio etc. Plus it came with this really addictive game called backgammon. For the first month or so I had the phone it was perfect and worked fine, but then it started to break all the time; the slide would get jammed, it would freeze. Sometimes it even just turned off on its own.
For these reasons I would not recommend this one bit. You can get so much better phones that cost less than this. I have had many phones in my time and this is the worst one I have had.
I had this phone a few years ago so can't remember price, etc. But it is now on sale for around £80. It really isn't worth that when you can get other, newer phones cheaper than that at the moment!
The good thing about this phone is that there was a fair few colours available: Black, white, pink and blue. I had the pink one of course.
The battery life was good, when it decided it was going to stay on, as it used to turn itself off in my pocket ALL the time, and it made communicating with me very difficult. When i searched for an answer to this problem, i was told that the phone itself had a software problem when it was built - so was effectively a really common problem.
If this defect didn't affect the phone so much, i think it would have been more of a hit. It is a really cute phone and has a pretty good camera and sound system, with an internal memory that holds around 4 or 5 songs.
Overall, i wouldn't recommend it. There are many better phones on the market now for a better price.
The Nokia 6111 is the perfect example of the basic phone of the mid-2000s. Small, weird shaped and (at that time) feature packed, it was actually considered a mid-range phone at that time.
--- the BASICS ---
The 6111 is a 2G / GSM phone announced 11/6/2005 and released Q4 2005. The phone is a slider style and has a 1.8", 128x160, 256K colour screen. It runs on the Nokia Series 40 operating system, and is not a smartphone. It has 1 megapixel camera, an FM radio and an MP3 player. The onboard storage is only around 20Mb so the maximum one can store is around 4-5 songs.
--- USABILITY ---
(Sound and multimedia)
The phone provides nice and clear calls, the ringtone is loud and the screen clear. The provided headphone is useful and is stereo (for both ears). The music quality is acceptable. The FM radio has a reasonable reception.
(Internet and messaging)
There is GPRS in the phone and internet works at the maximum speed provided by this setting. As for SMS messaging the phone has good sized buttons for texting.
(Screen and camera)
The screen is nicely lit and crisp. It is not made for internet browsing but mobile-sized websites work. The camera provides 1152x864 sized photos - just short of 1 million pixels. The quality is good when viewed on the computer but by no means excellent. The video settings on the phone is QCIF 176x144, which is just viewable on the computer - nothing more.
--- CONCLUSION ---
The 6111 is a nice mid-range phone designed in the mid-2000s. It will no longer stand up against mid-range phones of the late-2000s - but it will be more than capable to stand up to the challanges of today. If you see any of these around cheaply (and by that I mean <£50) it is well worth the price.
I had the Nokia 6111, it is a really good phone and it is really easy to use. It has a lot of great features including a megapixal camera, bluetooth, music player, media player recorder, internet. It is a slide phone, which is useful because you don't end up phoning people by accident if you keep it in your pocket.
The camera is useful, although it isn't a massive number of megapixels, it still takes great pictures, and if you use the video camera the sound quality is really good compared to some phones.
The battery on the phone is OK it lasts for a few days, which is handy, because on previous phones I have owned if the battery lasts a day it could get really annoying.
I got my phone from Tesco on the Tesco network, for £30 which is excellent value, considering you get everything you need on this phone.
There are a lot of different screensavers, wallpapers, ring tones etc, great if you want to personalise your phone.
If you want a cheap, easy to use phone, this is great for you, I highly recommend it.
I have to say this phone is great value for money, it comes in nice colours and it is so simple to use. It comes with good games and some good applications. If you are looking for a simple easy to use phone then this is the one! It doesnt hold much at all, especially if you like to take photos on it and put music on it aswell. But it is an excellent phone if you are not bothered about a lot of music becasue it has a camera and you can bluetooth stuff. the only problems i have had is the screen freezing and shutting down but that it not very often at all. One line of pixels down the center of the screen has gone a bit odd but I have had the phone for a long time and you cant really notice it. It scratches easily if you are out and about and tend to drop your phone a lot. It plays music reasonably loud even though the quality is not fantasic. it's very easy to find things and not complicated in the slightest. The only reason it isnt my current phone is becasue I am 14 and I like to have a lot of music on my phone and this phone doesnt have a memory card slot, it also doesnt hold much. But apart from that its great.
I have this phone in pink and I LOVE IT! It is really easy to use. Im not the best person in the world when it comes to working out how phones work, but even I found this one extremely easy. The booklet it comes with is very easy to understand too. It has a camera on it which takes really clear photo's. It has several different ring tones to choose from, or you can design your own tune! It is a slide phone, which means that when it is closed it is very small! Great if you already carry lots around! The phone also has a radio! Great feature if you are somewhere by yourself and it's quiet! You can access the internet/write emails, it has bluetooth, games and a video camera. I have had this phone for around 1 year now and I am very satisfied with everything it does.
I bought this phone for 3 reasons, it was a Nokia, small enough to get in your handbag and it was pink! A great little phone with not hundreds of features but enough. The camera is ok but if it's great quality you want this isn't the phone for you. The radio is good and I recieve a good signal for it, as you can only hold a couple of your own songs on it. As for the looks of the phone it is a pretty little thing that fits nicely in your hangbag. When you use the camera you can use it as a little point and shoot . I have had it a year and a half now and haven't had any problems with the phone it's the charger I seem to struggle with. I have just had to buy my second replacement. The ringtones are your usual type ones and the wallpapers and screensavers are nice. Overall it is a good phone but not very high tech.
I bought this phone for the bargain price of £50 last year, though it is probably even cheaper now. I chose it mainly because it was compact enough to go in your pocket, with a handy sliding screen (I'm always forgetting to lock my phone and invariably end up dialling some long lost aunt. The camera isn't the best quality in the world, but it will do for taking quick snaps of something inspiring (if you're a fashion student like me) or just something funny when out with friends.
I never really got round to using all of the features when I had it, but my brother now uses it for the radio and many games I downloaded, great for making long journeys a bit more interesting. It has decent predictive text and has bluetooth, which was perfect for syncing my contacts with my laptop. I only wish that the menus were a bit more modern, as it is difficult to get an accurate perception of the internet. There was also the minor problem of it switching off randomly in my bag, and not being able to get the sim card in easily, but it's good enough for my younger brother to use since he's always losing his phones anyway!
I'm surprised to see so much positive feedback on this phone - I bought it for my wife earlier this year (mainly because it's pink!) and it has been nothing but unreliable. We have sent it back for repairs 3 times now, the screen freezes, the text messages delete themselves, the sim becomes dislodged and you can hardly even make a call as most of the time it has no signal!
I chose to get a contract with this phone (the pink Cath Kidston version) with Virgin. The phone mostly worked fine for the year I had it, until about 10months in whenever it was turned off or it ran out of battery it took roughly 20 minutes of pressing the button off and on until it came back on again. I solved this by trying to keep it on all the time unless it accidentally ran out of battery.
The slide mechanism always worked fine, but I know a friend who had this phone that stuck slightly when you pushed it up. The features of the phone always worked and it was very reliable, the only problem I ever had with it was the turning on problem.
I did find out that there were several faults with this phone that Nokia acknowledge, one of which was that it had a thin LCD, mine broke for no apparant reason when it was about 7 months old. The lady in the shop said it was a common fault, yet they still made me pay for it.
I have to agree with Leeanne and Vicky, the SIM card is always coming loose, and the battery life is not good! However, everything else about this phone is perfect for my use. I have just retrieved my old 6111 from the washing machine, so I am in the market for a new phone. I am very tempted to buy the same again.
This phone is nice looking, very easy use and is full of features. The camera and video recorder is very good and easy to use. Only down side is the battery gets used very quickly whether you playing games or using the camera. If only using this phone to make calls and to send text messages then its really good. The loudspeaker is very good when making calls. The memory is very good and saves (not sure of the exact number) loads of messages. It also automatically saves camera pictures and video.
I got this phone as a present for my birthday last year, and by April, I had to buy a new phone!
Good features on it, a radio, perfect camera and a very clear screen, blue tooth etc
It's small and light, and girly pink, which was what I wanted, but after about 2 months of using it, the problems started
It kept turning itself off, especially when I made a call to someone or I was reading a text- annoying!
Then, it wouldn't read my sim card properly.
Inside the back of the phone, where you put the sim card, it had come loose, and the only way to use the sim, was by folding a piece of card into the flap with the sim to keep it secure and at the same time, hold the back really tight to turn the phone back on which often took a good 30 mins to do it!
In the end, I took it to the phone shop and was surprised to find out that, it was a very common fault with these phones and there was not a lot that could be done to fix them. I really wouldn't recommend this phone, if you want it to last a while.
Yes i know i'm stupid what was i thinking playing on my phone whilst on the loo. You've guessed it, one slip and its gone, i'm stuffed! Embarassing ah, but i can't be the first and certainly won't be the last.
So i needed a new phone, nothing to worry about there are thousands to choose from but what did i want? Well as you do from time to time you want to treat yourself. So i thought something classy, what the celebs would have, to impress my friends. It needed to be small fit in the palm of my hand and be reliable. It also had to include a vast range of functions, so i could explore and would never get bored. But, most important of all it had to be easy to use.
And then it hit me the nokia 6111, perfect. It had everything i wanted great camera, audio messaging, providing short sound to be transmitted over sea, brilliant. It also had infared, bluetooth and USB connection, that takes care of connectivity. To blend in with the modern way of life it had an mp3 player and of course fm radio not to mention a speakerphone.
Yes i decided this was the the phone for me, the one i wanted my dream phone.
It goes without saying this phone is sure to be a great success to anyone who purcheses it.
