Advantages: Light, Well Built, Great Performance
Disadvantages: Voice-dialling
Nokia has struck gold with this new phone, designed for the buisnessman on the go. It contains a huge range of features, most of them extremely useful. For example: Text message capacity of 150 Phonebook memory of upto 500 WAP-enabled Large screen No antenna Light, at less than 150g Lithium-ion battery as standard. Voice dialling These features are some of the reasons why I find this phone so appealing. It is light, with a large backlit screen, suitable for WAP operation. Navigation on the WAP system is hampered by Nokia not programming the predictive-text function into any part of the phone other than the text-messaging option. That aside, it is relatively easy to access email, news and other network-determined services from the phone, although with the absence of predictive-text, writing emails is not favourable. The large text message capacity is also a much used function of my 6210. Previous phones were limited to a SIM-only text message capacity. With the 6210, you don't have to worry about your inbox filling up while you sleep! The battery is not to be sneezed at either. If you charge it for the recommended 16 hours at first, you get a phone which is capable of remaining on standby for a long, long time. If, however, you decide to only charge for eight hours, like me, then battery performance will not be great. However, I'm still able to get 5 days on standby out of the phone, as well as making 2 hours of calls during that period. The voice dialling feature on this is more of a novelty than a useful function. It only records your voice once, so you have to voice-dial in the voice you recorded in. Sounds daft, but many people, myself included, put voices on for the record, and can never seem to make the voice tags work after that. Overall, though, I am very pleased with my purchase. Having previously owned an 8210, I can safely say these are better built, and
although slightly bigger, will last longer, and have many more useful features. If you can afford it, buy this phone. With the mobile internet ever expanding, it will be an excellent buy!

- 07/11/01 A good op, except... This isn't a new phone, in fact its successor, the 6310, is about to be released. That's basically going to be the same, except it'll have integrated Bluetooth, GPRS, and so on... Think I'm going to wait for one of them! |
