Advantages: Very good all round rugged phone.
Disadvantages: Some say it is outdated.
Basically, this here is a no nonsense phone, perfect for anyone who needs a rugged handset. This certainly is rugged too, mine has, and will, take a lot of abuse.
I wanted to get in quick with this review, just in case Dooyoo deleted it. I am now on my second 6230, not my first Nokia, nor my last, I see no reason why I should not keep this one forever.
There are that many phones on the market nowadays, that you have trouble picking, and this version is what you could call a run of the mill workphone.
I will not copy & paste the features from a website, it's old now, so you will not consider buying it. I will list some good points you may find interesting to compare with other modern phones.
Talktime, many phones these days have all the modern features, and then you realise that talktime is very poor, this one lasts for many hours. However, I must say that when using a bluetooth headset, the battery does drain quickly, it really makes a massive difference.
Sending picture messages, it sends photos all right, although I don't use this feature a great deal.
Camera, OK so this is where the 6230 starts to lose points, the camera being just 1.3 mega pixels, which is poor by todays standards, although comparing actual pictures taken on a more modern camera phone, I myself could not tell the difference.
Case, yes the case or cover is able to be changed, as a fashion statement, or in case of damage, or perhaps you have a cover for best!. Ihad to change mine because the front got scratched, and the back was also looking grubby, it polished up well after using Brasso, however, it does shine more now, which I
prefer.
This phone also has a loudspeaker mode. which is simple to use, and the phone is also very easy to hold. It is able to stand up to knocks unlike more modern phones.
I think this phone will go down in history, alongside the 3310. I carry a spare battery when I am away, just in case I am unable to charge it, although I have never used it as the standby time is very good.
Having said how this phone will last forever - unfortunately it had just packed up. Long live my new phone, Yes another Nokia!
Summary: I still recommend this as a good solid phone.

- 05/10/08 I had this phone a few years ago, and it then got passed to my mum and then my dad. It finally got replaced by him once the battery life just wasn't lasting very well. For me, its a classic example of how great Nokias can be. |
