Advantages: Basic necessities are included, making this a basic-user phone.

Disadvantages: Limited to S40/Java apps and games.

Got this phone Mid-2008, in silver, and its a great little phone, with unlimited reliability.

Although Im not exactly 100% experienced with all the features on the thing, I know the basics.

The main thing that will annoy any person going from a Smartphone or S60 Phone to the 6230i, is the serious lack of applications for the phone itself. Where Smartphones and S60's have loads of different applications, ranging from connectivity and media players, to good looking games, you are essentially downgrading to a S40 phone, which supports 128 x 128 Java games and apps.

That being said, there isnt much this phone doesnt have for the average user. The camera is an upgrade from its sister-phone, the 6230, and there is an added 'Select' button in the middle of the directions to make things easier for you to select things.

The other plus point that I seriously 'marked' out for, was the moving images on the screen in standby... something unheard of in S40 Phones. This, with the right application installed on your PC, means you can make your own themes, with a moving image as the standby picture.

The basics, like SMS, MMS and Phone calls are what we have come to expect of Nokia, as being perfect as always. There is also the ability to access the Menu functions whilst in a phone call.

The phone, however, requires a DKU-2 Cable for PC connectivity, whereas the newer Nokias have started to use the Universal USB Cables for connectivity, much like current MP3 players and so forth.

Probably fairly cheap now, so for a basic user, or a clumsy finger-slipper, this is the way to go. And given its part of the ever popular 6230 brand of phone, figures dont lie. It once seemed that EVERYONE had a 6230!

Summary: A decent and once very popular basic user phone.
