Advantages: 1.3MP camera, better performance, improved keypad control

Disadvantages: Quality didnt seem to me to be as good as previous phones, outdated

Well this phone was a christmas present to me and replaced my trusty 6230 and as this was the ugraded version of the phone, I have to say I was quite excited to see what the etra features would be like. And to my joy the camera had a zoom function on it! Which I was really happy about. What I was even more happy about though was that the camera had been upgraded from a VGA style camera to a 1.3 Mega Pixel camera which was a pretty big thing for me as I loved using the camera on my phone.

many of the same features were still on the phone and what I really loved about this phone (and the 6230) is simply just how simply and easy it is to navigate around the phone. Simple, quick and easy, you cant ask for anything else out of a phone unless you love the up to date technology.

One of my gripes from the phones predecessor was still there however, the annoying fact that to install the SD card (upto 512MB) you have to again power off the phone and remove everything but the SIM card to get the SD card into place and then replace everything and boot up the phone once again. I feel that they could have easily put a removeablt panel in the side of the phone to insert the SD card so that it slides under the battery and then replace the panel to stop the card falling out would have been a far better design feature and far more convenient. But hey, I dont have a degree in mobile phone design lol haha so I will keep that as a personal opinion rather than a statement.

I dont know if it was just the fact that I knew I was using the upgraded version of my old phone, but I definitely saw an improvement in the phones overall performance, maybe it was psychological? I dont know but it just felt so much quicker.

Another of the improvements to the phone, was the phones standard D-pad style button for selecting things on the main menu and other tasks, on the older phone this was a button which curved inwards. This made it quite clumsy to use even to someone quite familiar with the phone, however the 6230i did not suffer the same fate. With the standard fascia there was a dimpled button build into the D-pad style button, this made it far easier to select the central part of the pad. A definite bonus to the phones design.

The only problem I have had with this phone is that the camera stopped working about 3 months after the warranty expired, this was a bit of a confidence dip in my view of Nokia phones, however it was not much of a big deal as the week that I noticed it, I knew I would have my digital camera on me. Still, annoying none the less.

A good all round phone that has all the same fantastic features as its predecessor (see my review on the Nokia 6230) but with a view well needed upgrades. Maybe it was just a one off, but I felt that the quality of this phone was not quite what I had experienced from Nokia in the past

Summary: Good for a 2nd phone or a general purpose phone/on a tight student budget, good features
