Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: nothing fancy
I have had to borrow this phone from my daughter since my own phone managed to stop working recently. She lent me this phone which is her 'old' phone but it is still very modern compared to what I had! I am told it is still available to buy in some shops and online and I am very impressed with it so far!
I am the kind of person who does not need a phone to do a whole host of tricks, instead I just want it to function in a way which means that I can telephone people, send texts messages and maybe take a photo or two if I remember that my phone has this ability! When my phone broke last week I was concerned that I would have to enter the world of modern technology and get a very complicated phone with touch screen and all sorts of fancy things that I do just not need at all!
So if you are like me and don't need a super fancy phone then this one will you suit you fine. It is not a basic phone by any means- it has got fancy things like MP3 players and what not built in but it isn't as complicated and sophisticated as many so it isn't overwhelming nor do you need a degree to figure out how it works.
It is a Nokia so has a familiar lay out menu-wise. This is very clear to use and you can navigate around it easily. It is easy to see what the icons are and to select them and access them is very easy and straight forward. It didn't take me long at all to work out how to add numbers, how to create messages etc.
The text messages are easy to open and write and the actual key pad is very good as the buttons are not joined together so you are less likely to make typing mistakes when using it. It does also mean tha you are able to text when you're not fully looking too which I assume would not be the case with a touch screen so this is great!
The battery life on this isn't great, the phone is a year old so maybe age has something to do with it. I find that after a day and a half it is needing charging again and that is with probably about an hour's worth of phone calls and a few text messages so it isn't very good but you can buy batteries to replace it so that may help it.
The camera is 2 mega pixel which apparently now is not very sophisticated for a phone but for me it is fine. It does get a bit blurry ,you do have to make sure that you hold it very, very carefully when you are taking the picture, if you shake at all it will be a very blurred picture.
Talking wise on this phone it is fine, the size of it makes it easy to hold without it being cumbersome or too slim. The speaker is very clear and I don't have a problem with this at all.
I haven't used the other functions of this phone so cannot comment on them but for the basics- telephoning, storing numbers, writing messages and taking photographs this is a mobile phone which is very straight forward and easy to figure out. I was able to work out how to use these functions without needing to consult the instructions or have a huge tutorial by my daughter. It is a shame the battery doesn't work any better.
