Advantages: Classic rounded design, simple interface and navigation keys, reliable, long battery life.

Disadvantages: Can't text with one hand, no torch function, speakers quiet.

The Nokia 6303 is the next generation from the popular Nokia 6300. I bought this phone second hand for £20 when I lost my Blackberry and didn't expect much from it.
To start with the phone looks classic and fits well in my hand with smooth, rounded edges. The buttons are nice to use. However, I find it impossible to text with one hand due to the spacing and shape of the phone; it just slips out of my hand. Fortunately this phone is sturdy; mine's had its fair share of drops and spills. The interface is simple with easy to navigate buttons and user-friendly menu's. Personally, a breath of fresh air compared to fiddling around with touch screens. The display is also impressive, as the screen is clear, surprisingly bright.

Although I don't use the camera much, it seems good. It has 3.2 megapixels with a flash and a video function. Only thing I don't understand here is that there isn't a torch function when it could have been so easy to put in! On the media front there is also space for a micro SD card, a music player and a particularly useful 3.5mm headphone jack which means I didn't have to bother with buying new ones.

If you're looking for a feature heavy phone - this is probably not what you are looking for. It has some useful gadgets such as email support, voice commands and all the normal games (disappointingly, no snake but I'm unsure if that applies to every 6303), flight mode, calendars, to-do list and timers applications. Unfortunately it's let down slightly by the speaker function, which is on the quiet side - the alarm is not ideal for waking up heavy sleepers.

I was very nicely surprised by the internet. One thing I became accustomed to with my old phone was the ease of hopping on the web to Google this or that. Of course, I didn't expect the same level of convenience, but the Nokia's WAP and GPRS works well and I can get on the internet quickly. There are also downloadable applications from the Novi Ovi store where I downloaded a Facebook application easily for free to fill my social networking needs.

Throughout all of this I was most impressed by the battery life. There is nothing worse than having a phone which constantly has to be charged. I'm constantly on my phone and on average charge it around every 3 days. In such a technology heavy environment where there are constantly new techno-inventions being introduced, sometimes it's refreshing to go back to good old reliable basics.

Summary: Not feature heavy, but a really great easy to use simple phone.
