Advantages: It makes calls?
Disadvantages: Unreliable, bulky, temperamental
I upgraded to the Nokia 6500 slide from a Motorola phone, because my phone provider had agreed that my problems with texting might have been caused by my handset.
I was recommended this phone in-store, and have it on an 18-month contract from Orange.
I've been using it for around 8 months, and I have to say I'm disappointed. I'd always thought Nokia was a reliable, workhorse-type brand (like Hoover, or John Lewis), but I find this phone to be cumbersome and unreliable.
The battery life is already low - a full charge can last less than a day if I make one phone call, which is very irritating.
The handset is heavy, which suggested the battery would be good, but apparently not so much...
It freezes up for no reason, almost like a slow internet connection, and often cannot access the sim-data, so that it doesn't recognise numbers (incoming or outgoing), requiring me to remove the battery and wait ten minutes to try it again.
Although the menus are easy to navigate, the camera is hard to use well (despite the 3.2 megapixel Zeiss lens I have yet to take a picture that isn't blurry), and uploading photos as picture messages takes forever. There's also a lot of background noise from my end during phone calls (or so I am told).
This feels like a piece of 80's nostalgia, not a modern phone. I'm getting an i-Phone asap.
I don't use the Mp3/Radio etc functions, so can't comment on those.
Summary: There are phones out there which work well. This is not one of them.

- 18/12/08 Phones shouldn't slide (or have bits that slide). It's just wrong. |
