Advantages: The slide function helps to protect the keypad and prevents you making accidental calls.

Disadvantages: The key pad is less useable over time.

I have had my Nokia 6500 for nearly 18 months and am due for an upgrade next month. I don't really use my phone for much more that calling and texting so I don't need a really fancy phone. I have found this phone to be really easy to use. The slide function, as well as being very cool, prevents me from accidently calling people while it is is in my pocket. The phone is really durable - I have dropped the phone a number of times and it has coped with this. The metal and plastic casing is very durable and there are only a few scratches and dings.
As the phone has got on in age, I have found that the numbers are beginning to stick and it can be difficult to make calls using the key pad.
Overall, in my opinion this is a great everyday phone that is durable and has lasted the 18 month contract well. I know I'll be able to sell it on when I go for my next upgrade next month. A good buy.
