Advantages: Auto keypad lock is great idea, Excellent Nokia predictive text, Cool looks, especially with blue backlight
Disadvantages: Expensive, Weaker reception than my old 6210, FM radio only works with Nokia headset
I bought a 6510 about two months ago, upgrading from my 6210. I won't bore you with all the details about what this phone does, as I believe the point of these opinions is to give you my subjective view of the product, not to regurgitate the instruction manual! If you really want every detail, then I suggest you read Bob Barley's very lengthy opinion on this phone. Or read the instruction manual on www.nokia.co.uk. Anyway, back to my opinion. This phone is very similar to the 8310, being a similar size and weight, and offering WAP and a built-in FM radio. Extra features over the 8310 include: > Automatic keypad lock - an excellent feature, with variable time delay before locking. > Bright blue screen illumination - very bright, and looks great. > Metallic fascia - I prefer this to the colourful 8310, but that's down to personal taste. The 6510 carries over the 6210's excellent calendar and large memory for names (500 entries) and text messages (150 texts), and the WAP works very well despite having a relatively small screen. The phone slips in the pocket easily and is quite light. For all you people who care about such things, it's 84g - exactly the same weight as the 8310 and 30g lighter than my lumpy old 6210. I was initially concerned the buttons would be too small and fiddly, but this is not a problem and you soon find yourself texting and navigating around the features very quickly, as Nokia has an excellent user interface. Battery life is very good - with light use, mine lasts 3 days between charges. The FM radio also works well, although it's a pity you have to buy a Nokia headset to use it. The headsets cost up to £20 in the shops, but I bought one on ebay for £7, so it's not too big a deal. My only dislike is the slightly weaker reception compared to the 6210. I assume the smaller size means that the aerial itself has to be smaller. This is not a problem most
of the time, as I find O2 gives good network coverage, but the difference is worth noting if you live or work in a weak signal area. Minor gripes aside, this is an excellent phone with cool looks and useful features in a perfectly formed package.

- 24/10/02 I was umming and ahhing about whether to give a U or an SU and i had to go with SU i'm afraid as there was a lot of information that you could have put in.
For example if i was looking to buy one of these phones having never owned a nokia, i would need more info on what the standard nokia stuff is.
If you add more info i will gladly rerate. |
