Nokia 6650

This is one of the 3 handset models with which J-Phone (Vodafone) is launching its WCDMA (3G) service in Japan. I first trialed a prototype handset, then purchased one of the first production units from a Nokia Shop in Tokyo. The cost was high - JPY79,800 or approx. UKP400, but I guess that's the price of early-adopting. Since J-Phone's network is still under construction, it took some time to figure out settings, and some of the services have not yet been activated here. I have recently trialled this phone and personally I think an awful lot of work needs to be carried out on the software before it is released for sale. I loved the full colour screen. The colours are very good and the menu is very easy to read. The initial look of the phone looks very similar to the 7210i flip phone, without the flip front. The ringing tones were very good and downloading new tones was quick and easy. They were stored in a directory called Gallery then look for Tones. The disadvantages were numerous.
