Advantages: Feature rich
Disadvantages: Fragile 'slider'
For the past five years or so I have been using Nokia mobile phones, having used a mix of brands for the seven years prior to then. I am generally impressed by the size, features and battery life of each Nokia as I buy it and with the 2110 and 5110 I used I never had a problem with them, despite being a very heavy user. This phone is an excellent phone on paper and initially in use. As you would expect from considerable sophistication it does have a few minor software problems which is true of all such phones. However what it does suffer from more than most is hardware and mechanical problems. Mobiles get knocked about, that is a fact of life, 7110's when knocked more than a few times die. The at first very usefull feature of connecting/disconnecting the phone on activation of the slider becomes a real pain when it starts to fail. Mine, as with a friends, now will disconnect a call, or lock/unlock the keypad at a whim is the slider is touched from time to time, a other tiems it is very reliable. There is also some fault that means it occassionally loses the SIM card, this is not the card or the contacts, according to Nokia, nor can Nokia recreat it. However it is very annoying to see an 'Insert SIM card' message too often. It is a good phone and if used lightly and never dropped remains a good phone. Heavy use and/or abuse though will kill it sooner than others.

- 17/04/01 Perhaps you could say a little more about the phone in general? For example, mention all of its features. If you add anything please let me know (email addy in profile), and I'll come back for another look. |
