What a fabulous phone! I only recently bought this phone (7110e), but instantly fell in love with it.

Some people don’t like its look, but it’s a love or hate thing and I well and truly love it. From its iridescent finish slightly changing shade depending on the lighting to its Matrix like flick down function (and I know I won’t be getting bored of that any time soon!) this phone stands apart from the rest.

But there’s more to a phone than looks, how about functionality? Well, perhaps you have 1000 names to store; well this phone can keep ‘em. It has lots of memory for all those phone numbers – with a particularly useful function of storing several numbers under one name. It’s got the usual SMS capabilities with a suggestive input dictionary and further options expanding the usefulness this ever growing form of communication.

It also comes with a calendar function, several new games, and infra-red port and not forgetting WAP service, all displayed on a large clear screen. The navi-roller lets you flick through menus quickly, and once you become accustomed to it you’ll wonder how you’ll ever cope without it.

The WAP service allows you to check and send email, perhaps see what’s on at the cinema, find a place to eat or catch up with the latest news amongst many other things. It may not me life changing but it certainly come in handy every now and then. It can handle data communication through the infra-red port at up to 14.4kbps, which allows for a laptop to be connected to the internet.

It’s also dual band meaning you can use it virtually all over the world with the only exception really being North America.

Want more? Well, it’s also very customisable – it can hold up to 5 additional tunes, the logo and welcome greeting can be changed (some features can only be altered via a computer). A particularly handy function is the abili
ty to have various caller groups and hence assign different ringing tones for different people, e.g. family, friends, work.

The slim battery that comes with the phone as standard means it only weighs 141g and it gives you plenty of talk and standby time. The external aerial is also very good, especially with some people often struggling with reception with internal aerials.

The software is also upgradeable, so future improvements can be made; in which case just take your phone down to a nokia dealer and get the firmware updated.

In fact the only feature that I can think is missing is voice activated dialling, but then again how much do I really miss it with speed dialling enabled??

To sum up a great phone with so many features packed into it and it comes with the easy to use nokia menu system.
