Advantages: Great fetures, Easy Navi Roller

Disadvantages: Upgrade software

The Nokia 7110 has been around for sometime but I must admit it a good phone. The concept comes from it predecessor 8146 which was the earlier version of a sliding front panel phone. This phone has a variety of features into it and has great value for money.

Most of you should know by now that this phone has been out for sometime now and you can see that many opinions have been written about it.

What important to understand about a mobile phone that even though all the features are nice there always going to be problem regardless of what anyone says.

Design
---------

The design of the phone is very sleek with a touch of a futuristic look on the display. The main attraction to this phone is the display size and the funky sliding front cover. They’re also an easy to use navi (roller button and scroller in one). This allows you to control the menu option selection as well as scrolling through them.

Nokia must have done their research into what people are looking for because this phone is still a very good contender in the market for purchase.

Features
------------

The phone has the standard feature as most other Nokia phones with a few extra bits.

It has a built in infrared device, which allow you to transfer contact details and connect to mobile devices such as (Pocket PC, Laptop and other data device). I personally have a HP545 device that is a Pocket PC and I’m able to send faxes and connect onto the Web without any problems.

The maximum transfer rate that you can get out of the phone is 14,400 kps but what most people don’t know is that it depends on your network provider service. Most network provider can only transfer at 9,600 kps but they never tell on the package for the handset that this is the issue. As everyone know most company are only out there to make money and nothing else.

It also has a WAP (Wireless application protocol) brows
er built into the phone. I think this was one of the first phones out at the time when this technology actually came out.

What good about wap is that it an information system similar to Internet explorer but can only display text and a few simple graphic. The best thing to say is that it’s like teletex and can be a pain after a while.
Size
------

The size of the phone is not too bad compared to other phone out during that time. But now there to many small phone available with the same features at a higher price. Sounds stupid but is very true and would advised not to always look for size as you know the expression, (The smaller the phone, the easier it is to lose it).

Dimensions: 125 x 53 x 24 mm, 125cc
Weight: 141g

It’s not that bad in size.

Standard Stuff
-------------------

You’ll get a lot of the standard feature such as

Call register – catch up with you missed calls, received call, made call to see if anyone used your phone.

Ringtones – you can download from the Internet or over the phone personalised ringers for your phone. You’re allowed to store up to 5 ring tones.

Games – You’ll be surprised with the four games that come with phone, one opposite, snake 2, racket, and rotation. You’re able to try the games out on the Nokia Webster if you’re interested or just don’t want to buy the phone for the games.

Predictive text - An easy way to write your text messages out. What it does it suggests words for you, which you then pick.

Overall
----------

The phone is really well structured in the menu and you able to perform personal profile so that you can set for individual event (meeting, indoor, outdoor).

There are quite a few accessories available but the only one I would recommend is the car kit and the data cable. Other than that it up to you to decided
on which ones to have.

Price
-----

The price can vary depending on what package and network you select. Some shop is currently offering this model for free. Best thing to do is look around and find the greatest deal. Off line will cost you around 200 pounds. I have unlock mine and it's worth alot for me.

Important
-------------

Since the launch of this phone there has been quite a few problem occurred so please make sure you check the software version of the phone by pressing *#0000# to see if you have the latest version.

I’ve listed the entire version for you and remember you can go to a Nokia service centre to get your version updated as well

Software version:

v4.73 (Old version)
v4.88
v4.94
v5.00
v5.01 (Newest version)
