Love the phone, hate the text problems (Nokia 8310)

I have this model phone, and I have to say, I love it. The size is great for me, just fits nicely into my handbag, nice and light, loads of great features (including an FM radio - perfect!) and easy to use. However, I use it mainly for texting. Herein lies the problem. Apparently, although you don't get told this unless you question it, there is an ongoing problem with the software of this model phone. What happens is this - you write out your text message, no problems. However, as soon as you press 'send', the phone kindly 'dies' on you, and when the screen comes back, it is back on the main screen, and has locked the keypad. When you go back into the messages, your carefully typed message has been deleted!

Orange are aware of this problem, but have no solution as yet. They used to send out replacement phones, but as they only send the same model, it was a bit pointless, so they stopped. Unfortunately, this problem has been apparently going on for approx 5 months now, and is getting very frustrating. It now happens almost every time I send a text, and the phone is in danger of getting launched soon!

I would be interested to see if anyone else has experienced this, or has any advice, as Orange have offered no help - they cannot even give me an alternative phone, or discount against getting one!
