Advantages: Stylish, Cool, Titanium, Suitable For Long Term Everyday Use, Covered Keys
Disadvantages: Outdated, Slide Can Hinder Input, Not Many Features Compared With Today's Phone.
6 years later from the release of the 8910 I bought one for a reasonable price refurbished on ebay, why did I buy this outdated phone?
because it's stylish and classy and most of all functional for everday use, the titanium cover is very durable and gets rid of the nessecity of changing covers every couple of months, the sliding fascia covers all the key making it a great phone for your pocket,
the phone is reasonably exclusive as not many people could afford it when it was released hitting the 600 Pound mark, now prices start at 70 Pounds reburbished and 100 Pounds brand new, the menu is typical old style nokia and there is no camera and the bluetooth only works for accessories mainly,
although it is possible to connect to other phones but it is difficult, it sports predictive text, a long battery life and games ecetera.
this is not a phone for those who love having the latest technology on the phone, but it is good for those who like a slighty retro but functional and eye-catching phone,
the bluish white LED's stand out as nokia usually preffered green LED's from this time period, also the screen is greyscale not monochrome which is a newer feature, unfortunately the keys do not light up well and texting in the dark is all but impossible,
and sometimes the slider makes it hard to press the three bottom buttons, the main attraction of the phone is that it looks great and will last for many years,
ok only monophonic ringtones and no loudspeaker and lack of colour screen are a downside but somehow the greyscale screen suits the phone better than a colour screen, remember the casing is made of titanium, very classy !!!
this is the reason the phone costs so much after all, basically a phone for constant everyday use were the user wants reliability and simplicity and style rather than all the gadgets of a newer phone,
I find the phone a timeless classic and much more usable than the previous 8850, and the sliding mechanism is much more cleaner and cooler than the 8850, truly a fashion phone for the budding corporate or just for those who want a cool functional phone with that something extra special about it.

- 12/05/08 Nice review, but I wonder if you couldn't have told us about the sound quality for making and receiving calls. Also, may I suggest you put your reviews through a speller (like in Word) before posting, which will make them look more professional. A grammar checker would also be a good idea. |
