Advantages: Web browser, camera
Disadvantages: Delays, delays, delays
How does a E61i compare to a Blackberry?
Before I answer, I would like to point out my profile: business user who is after easy access to email on the go and ability to use phone functions. Though I like my gadgets, I do not consider my phone more than a tool to call, receive emails and occasionally browse the web!
I have used various blackberries for the past 4 years and unfortunately due to a company policy had to switch to a E61i in order to receive emails on the go.
From a blackberry users perspective, the E61i is a nightmare:
- there is a delay of about 3 seconds between pressing a button and actually being able to see a message. This point pretty much makes the user experience a nightmare after having used a quick blackberry. All other features and improvements over a blackberry are pretty much marginalised, because you spend time stressing about the delays in loading a message onto your screen.
- its about 3-5 seconds before you actually get to access your address book once pressing the button.
- corporate security software has the feature that it locks the
downloading of emails, such that you are not able to simply glance at your phone in order to check if you have new messages, you actually have to unlock it.
- otherwise it does have loads of "fun gadgets", like the memory slot, the camera which can record videos, WLAN connection and actually a very good web browser, but whats the use if its so slow.
Hope this helps!

- 30/06/08 I know these are very complex items so I'm a bit surprised at the brevity of this review - there's so much more you could have told us, not the least of which would be how this works as a phone. |
