Advantages: nokia quality, good all-round features

Disadvantages: its no iphone in terms of web browsing

The Nokia E71 is a great phone, with excellent design and functionality. I got it principally because I didn't want to get tied down to a ridiculous iphone contract for the next year and a half of my life, whilst the idea of a blackberry just seemed a bit too close to the cliche of generic businessman. The phone has a great finish to it, and although its a bit heavy, I think that gives it a more solid feel in the palm of your hand. The camera at 3.2 is far from the best available nowadays, but given the other capabilities of the phone it isn't too much of an issue, for me at least.

Crucially the deal that I got the phone on comes with unlimited free internet, and if this isnt a possibility for you I would definitely think twice about getting a different phone, as internet functionality is the main thing that this is bringing to the table. The 3G can be quite slow, though I guess thats more of a criticism of the network than the phone itself. I didnt like the Nokia maps function, but a google maps installation is easily downloaded, along with a youtube app that can make train journeys go in a flash.
