Nokia Lumia 800
Advantages: Fast Operating System, Modern Design, Good Range Of Features, Display Quality, Social Integration
Disadvantages: Battery Life, Networking Glitches
I bought the Nokia Lumia 800 to replace a 2 year old Samsung Tocco Lite. When I first received the phone, I was very impressed by the design and appearance of the phone which is very smooth and modern. I like the cap which covers the battery charging slot as it fits in well with the design of the phone as well as fulfilling its job of protecting the charging slot from dust or damage. The speaker is located at the bottom of the phone and it produces good quality sound. The volume and lock buttons are also very nicely designed and work very well.
The few features that come with the phone however the quality of them are amazing. The 8 megapixel camera captures stunning quality photos and full 720p video. The integration of the user's social networking life is also very good with options available to sync accounts to the homepage of the phone using an application called People which comes pre-loaded on the phone. The media players are very good with two different music players to choose from: Zune and Nokia. I would finally like to comment of the operating system. I would recommend this operating system to anyone who is looking to purchase a new phone. It is fast, efficient and simple to use while being very complex in the features that it can provide.
The windows market place is a key feature of this phone. It is very new to and late in joining the app market and so there are a limited number of apps however the apps such as Sky Sports News and ESPN Goals are very good and in some cases, I believe, better and easier to use than on Android.
I must comment on the negative features that I have come across during my two months with the phone. The battery life is very poor. I am currently having to charge it once every 36 hours. I am not the lightest nor the heaviest of users of my phone and so I think that I am disappointed in Nokia not providing a more reliable battery. The only other negative is that sometimes the phone loses its data and network connection without warning or reason. This can be very annoying when streaming media over the 3G connection (Which I must say is very good).
In conclusion, I believe that Nokia have made a good phone which is easily sync-able to your social life, while functioning very well as a typical phone, while offering a whole range of good quality features. I would recommend this phone to people looking to buy a new phone however be warned about the poor quality battery and the networking problems.
Summary: Very good phone however two disadvantages which can be very annoying to the user.
