Nokia N-Gage sets itself apart from the other phones with the fact that it can also be used as a gaming console. Released by Nokia in 2003 it was supposed to hit a niche market and bring great profits for the company.

The phone surprises through its unusual layout with the screen in the centre of the phone, surrounded by keys. The reason for this was that the phone had to resemble a portable gaming console, but this lead to an unusual thing. In order to talk on the mobile phone you had to hold it on its side. The built quality is excellent, good solid plastic with rubber keys which are able to sustain an extensive usage. When talking about the features there is a lot to say : mp3 player, mmc card slot, xhtml browser, symbian 6.1 operating system, stereo FM. The battery is a minus, since it can be drained in only one day and the recption is quite bad, with fuzzy sounds sometimes.

As for a gaming console N-Gage is a revolution. High end graphic games with many levels and very fun to play. You could also play with other players around the world by joining "N-Gage Arena". The only downside is the price of the games which is quite high.

Game console, phone, mp3 player sometimes I feel that the Nokia N-Gage tries to much. It is balanced, but does not exceed in any of its functions
